Questions & Answers

How do you separate the CV joint so that you can remove and replace the support bearing?

Remove the clamps from the propeller shaft, slide it forward, and you'll see a steel cage with steel balls that slide in and out. Slide it inwards until you reach a stell retaining clip near the end; remove it and the shaft will split into two pieces; keep an eye out for the steel balls as they will now fall out. The cage assembly must still be removed, as well as another spring clip, before the support bearing can be removed and installed.

Could you please show me how to disassemble the original propeller shaft and replace it with your bearing?

Mark all of the segments for orientation during reassembly before disassembling the shaft. The rubber CV boot needs to be removed. As much grease as you can get out of the way. There will be a snap ring on the outer inside edge of the CV socket if you push the CV joint inward. The CV joint can be separated by prying out the snap ring with a small screw driver. After separating the CV joint from the spline, remove a smaller snap ring and the inner part of the CV joint from the spline. You can now remove the old bearing by pressing down on it.
