Questions & Answers

Is it too much for a 2010 Sequioa family hauler to have these?

No, I don't believe so. They work fine and are less likely to warp if you have to jam your brakes.

Are the pads all the same size, or are the front ones extra large and the back ones standard? (2) Z36- (2) Z36- and 1303 1304?

The brake pads are the same size as OEM and fit the stock Toyota calipers on both the front and rear wheels.

Is it necessary to clean Powerstop rotors before installing them, or can they be installed right away?

To remove packaging oils from any new rotors, regardless of brand, it's a good idea to use brake clean.

Will my 2010 Toyota Tundra's factory calipers work with these brake pads and rotors?

Yes, they should be compatible with your existing calipers. I installed them on a Toyota Tundra from 2012, which should be identical to your truck. They're a significant upgrade over stock brake pads and rotors.

Selected User Reviews For Power Stop K2813-36 Front & Rear Z36 Truck and Tow Brake Kit

Quality
5/5

I was skeptical after reading a few of the reviews. I was going to buy the parts anyway- for the Tundra I purchased in 2012. The parts arrived in about five days and were well packaged. Everything is of the highest quality. quality, with the exception of the clips and springs, which were adequate but not exceptional. The clips and springs were not included in my purchase. I was in desperate need of some good rotors capable of towing in the hills. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase. br>br> My brother, a GM mechanic, told me several times that these are actually very good quality brakes for the price, and he was quite surprised I got them on Amazon. br>br>I recently returned from towing a 17-foot boat. a boat with a maximum length of 8,000 feet The breaks performed admirably both at elevation and at sea level. They've got a lot of stopping power. Even when dragging a trailer down a steep downhill. I was expecting some sort of brake-related incident. It was a significant improvement over my stock rotors in terms of fade and rumpling. Anyone who purchased a Tundra or Sequoia in the last ten years is entitled to a free Tundra or Sequoia. Toyota is known for quality, but their breaks are terrible, as anyone who has been around for 15 years can attest. br>br>I've only had these pads and rotors on for about three weeks, but I'm very pleased with them so far. If I run into any problems, I'll update this review.

Parts are missing, there are fitment issues, and the brakes are ineffective
3/5

Only the back drums, pads, and clips were included in the kit. The front rotors, pads, and all front hardware were missing from the kit. I contacted Amazon, and they are sending me new fronts. br>Installed the rear rotors and ran into fitment issues with the inside lip of the rotors making contact with the hub plate on the truck, as others have described. Some people solved the problem by turning the rotors on a lathe and shaving a few millimeters off the rotor lip. Some tapped out the hub plate where it comes into contact with the rotor with a drift punch and hammer. Because I don't have access to a lathe, I chose the latter option and bent the hub plate back about 2 mm. The edges of the pads are crumbling, which I noticed after bedding the new pads. I'm going to contact Powerstop and see what they have to say about these quality issues. Others have complained that Powerstop does not return phone calls or emails, so I'm not expecting them to address it. I've included photos of the rotors, hub backing plate, and pads, as well as the issues I had with them. Overall, the rear brakes work and appear to stop well on flat ground, but the low quality of the product (rotors and pads) and the additional installation modifications required to make it work are not worth it. This is a product that I would not purchase again. br>br>**These new brakes are nowhere near as strong as the stock brakes after a month of use. When coming down hills, it appears that the pedal requires a lot more force than I've ever needed before to slow the truck down. These pads just don't have much bite to them. This brake set and brand continue to dissatisfy me completely. br>br>** Update. So, I've had these for a while and have driven them over 1000 miles. The manufacturer ignores all correspondence after all of the fitment issues and crumbly pad issues. They don't appear to be very confident in their product. When compared to my stock tundra rotors and pads after proper bedding and use, the stopping power is complete garbage. For any of my vehicles, I will never purchase this brand again. Due to all fitment issues, quality and performance issues, and a lack of company customer service to address these issues, the review rating has been reduced to one star.

Design and fitment both let me down
3/5

Toyota Tundra TRD Rock Warrior, 2012 I'm torn between giving them two and three stars, so I'll go with three for the time being. After a light break in period, I wore these for about 50 miles. The ability to halt appears to be beneficial. The issue is with the hardware and fitment. To begin with, there is no hardware included. A small amount of hardware is included. Even some hardware that clearly does not belong on this truck is included. The front pad pins and front caliper bolts, which are required replacements for this truck, are missing. In terms of fit, the front appears to be satisfactory. Not so much on the return trip. The backing plate was severely damaged when the rotor came into contact with it. With a hammer and some drift, I was able to reform the backing plate. It wore a hole in the backing plate after only ten miles of driving. Second, the rear pads in the caliper brackets were binding. It was necessary for me to use a file to trim down all of the pad's "ears. " After filing all four pads, they fit snugly into the brackets. Before installing the brackets, I "prepped" them by cleaning and sanding them properly. None of this is a problem with the installation. I've worked on dozens, if not hundreds, of brakes. Simply put, the design is terrible. Others may have fared better. I bought these because they had good reviews. I would not recommend this product or place another order.

BAD - The back rotors are still grinding
3/5

Toyota Tundra 2014 Companies are still producing rotors for Tundras that grind against the rear dust shields. Since 2007, these shields have been in use. How come manufacturers of parts aren't aware of this? I finished the job and went to bed in the pads, but the engine still sounds like it's running without any oil. This is Amazon's most expensive one-click product, and they still make rubbing rear brake rotors! Now I have to completely disassemble the wheels, calipers, and rotors in order to work the dust shield back and forth between the rotors. You want to give it zero stars because it's so frustrating. It's 2020, powerstop, so spend a little more time on manufacturing and quality control so people can change their brakes and get back to living their lives.
