I had a twelve-year-old Crane xri unit start acting strangely, so I decided to replace it with a like-for-like replacement

This one, sold by FAST and advertised and pictured as a Crane Cams unit, was found on Amazon. It didn't say anything about Crane Cams when I got it, but it was covered in FAST labels. This makes me angry. br>After doing some research, I discovered that Crane had been purchased by FAST, so I calmed down. br>I had no trouble installing the new unit, but it was dead. It wouldn't even start, so I swapped it out for the old funky one, which started right up. This makes me angry. br>I called FAST because they had emailed me with a "do anything to please you" type of sales follow-up. It was difficult to get through, but on the second attempt, I was able to speak with someone. He promised to replace it "at no cost" of $115! For the first one, I only paid $85! So I gave it back. They gave me a refund for the purchase price. br>I had a strange experience with this seller.

Excellent procedure for returning items

the bad: It didn't work right out of the box, and the instructions were so bad that I spent an entire day troubleshooting and never got it to work. Customer service at Cranes was never available (did they close on weekends?). br>br>the good: This is a weekend project. )br>br>the bad: It arrived quickly from Amazon, and returning it was simple. I received a prompt refund after the UPS driver picked it up with a label.

This was incredibly simple to install and immediately improved the performance of my old truck. It was well worth the money (I also upgraded the coil).
