It is not required, but it is recommended in order to extend the life of the wrap. It's worth noting that in order for this titanium wrap to properly bond, you'll need to heat cycle it three times and apply the coating three times.
That's something I wish I'd known before placing my order. It's a good thing I ordered the 0 in the first place. Safety Wire 040 I'd have been P'Oed if it hadn't been for the Pliers.
To tell you the truth, it all depends on how you define it. On my hot rod, I've wrapped my headers - I've been on there for ten years and it still looks "new" - However, it has only covered about 4K miles in that time, whereas my wrx has been on for the past four years and has covered over 50K miles, and it still looks good and functions properly.

down. I've tried a few different heat wraps/header wraps and this one is by far the best. This "Titanium Header Wrap" is not made of fiberglass like other "Titanium Header Wraps. " It's a lava-filled lava-filled lava-filled lava-filled lava It's a woven-together rock composite. Unlike other wraps, you don't have to soak this one in water before applying it to your exhaust; it goes on dry, making it a lot easier to work with. Gloves are still suggested, but they aren't required. br>br>Here's a suggestion: Apply some superglue to the ends when cutting them to keep them from fraying. Glue the cut ends together with a glue gun. Otherwise, you'll find yourself in a strange cycle of folding the cut end and attempting to wrap/pinch it in such a way that the wrap maintains tension without unraveling.
I wrapped my two v8 longtube headers, and I've used this exact brand on motorcycle exhaust four times in the past three years. I'm confident in my ability to properly wrap it. When stretched tight, the 2 inch wide becomes 1 inch wide, indicating that it has either changed or that this was a fake sent to me. It used to be 5 wide, but now it's 5 wide. However, there is SO MUCH FIBERGLASS in this that after wrapping my headers, I had to throw away my clothes. If you shine a bright led light on the area where you used it, all you'll see are fibers. To make matters worse, it's loosening in places due to road wind. I bought a roll of $20 wrap that looks the same on here, and it appears to be better, as it is thicker and has less fiberglass falling out. It's entirely up to you, but I'd go for the less expensive options. Update. br>br> 08- 2020 In storage, I discovered some of the old gear I had on my bikes. I had a couple of scraps that were about 3 feet long. They're 100% not the same as 100% us. Their skin is silky. Also, when you stretch it, don't get too thin. It goes like this: a1. Stretched to 9 inches wide. So either I got a knockoff or their quality has deteriorated over the last five years. I also purchased a tin-like wrap that Velcros around tubing and other similar items. It was all in good fun. I simply removed the Velcro and returned it because it was so shabby.

Why wouldn't this work for my intake, I reasoned, if it's designed to keep heat in and prevent it from spreading? My air intake was wrapped, and it really helps! And if there was any heat in the tube, the cold air would quickly dissipate it, leaving only cool air to be drawn in. I'm overjoyed that this worked out, and it looks pretty cool to me:.

Fraying and unraveling of the product is a very common occurrence. For the sake of simplicity, this is a two-person job. I don't usually write reviews, but this stuff is terrible, and I'm sure I won't buy it again. Because of the way the wrap is woven, cutting across for a shorter piece will result in the entire roll unraveling as you apply it.
