Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this product with a CVT transmission?

Lubegard responded that yes, this can be used with a CVT transmission.

So, what's the deal with this? Do I pour it in, and do I need to flush completely? Is it possible to simply drain the transmission pan and replace the filter?

Pour it in and make sure the transmission gets a few miles under its belt by shifting through all of the gears and remembering to reverse. Each gear should be used for at least 2 minutes. After that, just drain and fill or flush completely. Just remember to let the car sit overnight after cycling the lubeguard so all the junk knocked loose can fall into the pan if you choose the drain and fill method.

It's all good
5/5

I bought a 2011 Toyota Rav4 with 60k miles that had been serviced by the dealership every 5,000 miles. At 55k miles, it was completely refilled with differential and transfer case fluid. Unfortunately, unless you tow or drive the car very hard, Toyota believes in lifetime transmission fluid, so I was surprised to learn that the ATF in this car had never been serviced, and the dipstick showed it to be charcoal black. It had some hesitation and whirring between 1st and 2nd gear, indicating that the previous owner must have driven it hard. At 25 mph, there's a whine coming from the transmission. There was also some loud clunking between 40 and 50 mph, as if gravel was being thrown into a can. I assumed some bearings had failed, but hoped for the best and scheduled a flush appointment with an independent mechanic. I understand that having a transmission flushed isn't always a good idea, especially if the fluid is black or if major problems are suspected. However, if you approach it correctly, you'll be fine. Many quick lube locations will begin the flush with incompatible fluid because it's less expensive, then finish with spec fluid. This is something that you should avoid. Many establishments flush without removing the pan or replacing the filter. They might tell you that the filter isn't usable. This is something that you should avoid. Do your homework. If you have one, check to see if it needs to be replaced. To clean everything out, many places will use detergents or additives. This is something that you should avoid. Purchase additional fluid (the cheapest COMPATIBLE fluid you can find) and instruct them to flush until they are clean. To get a good dilution, do a drain and fill every month or two instead of doing all of this. It should be repeated at least four times. There are a few good DIYs for getting a good flush in the driveway as well. In any case, before dropping my car off at the mechanic, I added lubegard flush to the transmission fluid reservoir. The rattling at 40 mph vanished on the way there, and the shifts became noticeably smoother. The whine is now barely audible following the flush. The whirring between first and second gear is still present, but it's most likely due to a worn clutch plate that no amount of fluid will be able to repair. Overall, I'm impressed. br>br> I frequently use lubegard products and intend to perform an engine flush prior to my next oil change. I used the lubegard ATF additive in the transmission before using the lubegard flush, and the flush had a greater effect on smoothness than the additive. I also like that their transmission and engine flushes do not contain detergents. It won't harm your engine or transmission if it stays in there because it's impossible to get every last drop out.

A much-needed addition to my neglected and long-awaited collection
5/5

A change of trans fluid is long overdue. When I bought a used car, I was concerned because the transmission fluid was black. I'm not sure if it's been changed in 230,000 miles. Before changing the filter and ATF, I ran some LubeGard through the transmission, and I'm glad I did. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you shouldn't change the fluid and filter in a neglected (i. e. automatic transmission (black fluid). I've used this three times now, and each time the filter and fluid changed, the transmission shifted better and was quieter.

This is a fantastic product that actually works
5/5

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would never have believed it. My daughter sold me a 2000 Mazda Protege. The transmission was acting up, with delayed shifts and a flashing overdrive light. It was a shambles, to say the least. When my brother asked what kind of auto transmission additive I would recommend, I told him about transx. (An excellent product, by the way. ) He also arrived with the lube guard flush by accident. Well, I said minus, so put it to good use. So he poured it into the transmission and never got a response from him about whether or not it worked. However, I recall reading the reviews on Amazon and thinking to myself, "I guess I won't lose anything by giving it a shot. " So I placed an order for one and poured it into my Mazda. I went for a long drive with it, stopping at a Walmart to get some supplies before returning home. I suddenly noticed that the transmission light was no longer flashing. And the transmission would respond quickly when I began to accelerate. So, as I stated at the outset, I would not have believed how this product works unless I had seen it with my own eyes. Keep in mind that if your trany is about to die, there is nothing on this planet that can help you save it other than rebuilding it. However, if it hasn't been abused and there are no chunks of metal on the pan when you remove it, this product has a good chance of helping your transmission. After you've driven it for a while, don't forget to drain the old fluids, replace the filter, and re-oil it. That should suffice. This is an excellent product.

It's buttery smooth

I've been putting off changing the fluid in my manual tranny for years, afraid of causing more damage. However, this fluid aided in the flushing of the tranny, and it now shifts much more smoothly!.

It had an effect
5/5

My 1998 GMC pickup was having trouble shifting from first to second gear. It was as if it was shifting into second gear and then lurching just a fraction of a second later. When it lurched, you'd be thrown back in your seat. When I thought it was about to shift into second, I let off the gas a little to avoid causing any damage to my transmission. Within 5 minutes of putting this stuff in my transmission and driving around town for about a half hour, I noticed an improvement in the shifting for ALL gears. The transmission shifted faster and smoother, and while the transition from first to second wasn't perfect, it was noticeably better. br>br>I returned home, flushed the fluid, cleaned the pan, changed the filter, and replaced the Valvoline Synthetic ATF fluid, and that was the end of it. br>br>24 hours later, I got in my truck and drove down the road, and the difference was immediately noticeable. I couldn't believe it when I went from first to second place. I stopped and started three or four times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. My transmission had a major issue, and $h1t actually fixed it!.
