It was exactly for that purpose that I used it.
want to do this job right, you need to remove the calipers and carriers completely, clean those parts with all purpose cleaner, lightly brush any rust off, then clean the parts with all purpose cleaner once more, then wipe them well with paint preparation Once you've done that, mask off any machined surfaces and wad up the tapped threads. I used 2 light coats, followed by a third, heavy, wet coat (waiving between them 10 minutes) and it took me 1 hour to complete. The rotors for my front (dual piston) brakes on an E53 X5 4 were damaged and had to be replaced. There is a maximum number of coats that can be applied in a single After the paint has cured, apply a clear coat with the same steps. My goal was to get color density in just two light coats however, I was unable to achieve it. In conclusion, I love the three-color coat, followed by the seven-color coat (It is unclear whether baking in a 200 F oven for an hour can eliminate the 7-day cure It is a day cure, so maybe VHT can clarify that). When the cure period has passed, you can apply the clear coat in a similar way. The application of three coats of base color followed by three coats of clear in one sitting is clearly unacceptable. In general, folks seem to apply two light coats of color and then one heavy coat of clear. There was no way to make that give me the color density I wanted.
Hope this helps Beth, I used this on my brake and my hummer h3 muffler, and so far it's still there no chips, I think this will hold on your cook top, the brake side and the exhaust side sit at over 900 degrees,
In fact, you can, but you'll have to scrape off the old paint and clean it well before you're ready to spray the black paint over it

I'm really impressed! The products from VHT really suit my needs. Until I saw my friend use this spray on his Audi R8, I had a lot of skepticism toward In my opinion, giving the calipers a powder coating or using G2 paint kits are the best options, as they provide heat-proof It's always easier to believe if you see it first. As soon as I saw how great my buddy's calipers looked, I knew that is what I was going to do. There was good coloring, but I wish the light was a little more intense It was a pleasure working with medium coats. This was a smooth experience It almost looks like a As you might expect, I was very In any case It had been a while since I first tried my Honda Fit, so I wasn't sure how it would turn It's a good idea to start with calipers that are as smooth as silk as can be found on high end cars. However, I do not have those. The calipers on my Honda are made of steel with a rough texture. Well, what the heck am I supposed to do? When all is said and done, it looks like a cheap A gold can was purchased. Using this amount, you could spray two calipers plus there's extra. As far as my DIY process is concerned, it went as follows Please review
I cleaned my brand-new DC2 ITR calipers with brake cleaner - A mask was applied to the piston and other sensitive areas - Once the first coat is dry, hit it with another and let it air-dry for a few minutes. Do two light coats, allowing a few minutes in between each coat* to allow the paint to dry - In the next few minutes, I applied yet another thick coat and waited for another 5 minutes before finishing with my last medium coat. As soon as the paint had dried and settled on the surface, I let it air dry overnight.
Damn, this thing looks great! The paint came off when I knick it in order to see if it would come off when I installed it. Not at all. There is no doubt that this could be a great DIY project for anyone who enjoys crafts So far, the durability of this product has been excellent, and it has been a great buy at a great price. The item has been on for almost two months now, and the appearance has not changed. The truth is that I don't even bother cleaning it.
The color is more or less the same as what the European/German cars have. What is my method of knowing? It's the exact paint that I used to redo my Brembos! Prepare yourself as much as you can! Ideally, this stuff should be applied to bare metal, though you can use it on previous powdercoats as long as they have been sanded and cleaned properly. The coverage of the color is excellent and there is no need for primer. There is really no need for more than three coats! Following the directions carefully is essential! You must use a clearcoat so the color does not absorb brake dust, making it looks tacky and ricey, I used a 2K (2 part) clearcoat sprayed on my calipers in conjunction with this paint and it gave an amazing gloss for around 22 dollars on Amazon. Chemical resistance and heat tolerance of 2K clear make it suitable for track days where high temperatures can occur however, using that 2K clear at high temperatures may produce absolute destruction. The pros are Please review
Brembo yellow is very similar to the color of this wheel. It does not need to be primed-- I like the spray pattern because it is wide and excellent-- The ability to resist chemicals - Affordability * Cons Please review
Unless this paint is protected with some sort of clear coat, it will absorb brake dust and fade to a brake dusty color*- Generally, paint will only be chemically resilient with several days after application if it is baked to proper temperatures for 1 hour and after bending (hard braking may also cure it to be chemically resistant, but an oven bake is always better).
I really like this stuff! The product sprays on well, and the coverage is good as well as the color is gorgeous! I will have to see how it holds up over time, but so far I highly recommend this brand of High.
Make sure you clean and undercoat your vehicle! As a result of using this product along with a suitable primer and clearcoat, all from VHT, I was able to get bright shiny red brake calipers on my car. 1) Clean the brake calipers using some kind of brake caliper cleaning fluid to remove brake dust, grease and rust. If you have access to a wire brush, you can also use that. Step 2) Sand the calipers using 320-grade steel wool Sandpaper of different grit sizes. Rough them up to make sure they learn. Use more brake cleaner after that. Step 3) Mask off your car's corner body panels, the wheel wells, the struts and hoses, and finally Make sure that you mask the bleed valves on the calipers as well.
Step 4) Apply primer in a thin, speckled coat to one caliper, then move to the next until you've done so to all four, then wipe off any primer residue. You should repeat this process 4 times, gradually getting heavier each time, while not letting the paint run (it is okay if it does If you can, try to finish this as soon 5) Apply your base color (THIS PRODUCT) the same way you did Coat yourself several times with light coats. If you are planning to spray hard, I suggest that you sweep instead of just spray hard. Do not let the base color **Step 6) Apply the clear coat, following the same method you used in steps 4 and 5. Don't overload it, but don't skimp either. Coats with clear finishes are more prone to bleeding than those with
Step 7) Wait for an hour after painting. By now, the paint should look thick and glossy. You can drink a beer or a soda. 3) Release any masking you have created. Watch your new calipers in action. You can then rinse off any brake overspray from the brake rotors or the undercarriage area with brake cleaner. It is not recommended that you use brake cleaner to clean body panels, as it may remove 9) Go ahead and put the Once you have waited a few more hours, drive your car pretty hard. Be sure to skid as much as you can, because this will heat up your brakes. At 200oF, the paint must be cured, which means you need to drive and brake repeatedly while it is curing. You don't want to go too crazy here. The project is complete.
This is what I used on my 2010 Camaro SS. This is so disappointing to me. For my 2010 Camaro SS, I used this and it performed It looks fantastic when I first apply it to my brand new 2017 Camaro SS. The time to cure and everything was given to it. Same as I did for the 2010 Camaro, I used VHT gold paint in conjunction with VHT Flame Proof Primer and VHT Brake Caliper Clear Coat. It took about two weeks for the clear and gold to begin to chip away, quite badly, to be honest. However, the primer held up well. Despite the fact that I have to repaint my calipers, I plan to use a different.
