Questions & Answers
The last time I tried to clean my brakes with 3M High Power Brake Cleaner, 08880, 14 oz Net Wt in a 12-gallon bucket, I failed miserably. I was given a charge of 42 dollars for my pack. I paid $68 plus tax and only received a 14 oz can. How can I be sure that if I order again, I'll get all 12 cans?
I can't speak for this product specifically, but similar products have lasted decades on the shelf with no problems in my experience. I hope this information is helpful.
At the local parts store, it cost a lot more than $4 per can. To me, this appears to be a good deal.
It all depends on how much dirt you have to get rid of. One would suffice for a straightforward task.

As I began to use a few of these cans, I discovered that two of them had no pressure behind the nozzle, rendering the can useless and preventing it from spraying. Two more of them had leaking caps that would leak all the brake clean out over night after being sprayed for the first time. I'm extremely disappointed, and 3M surprised me by giving me this.
I've been a long-time supporter of 3m. I appreciate how their products outperform other brands in terms of quality. You'd better believe you're going to pay for 3m. I can finish with just one can of 3M, whereas the chain store brands require two cans.
I'm not saying it doesn't clean, but it does take a long time to dry and is very oily. Brake cleaner is something I use a lot. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's what's going to kill me, but I'm not going to buy this stuff again.
After 40 years with a large electric utility, I retired as a fleet field mechanic. I can tell you that when you need something done quickly and thoroughly, this is the way to go. I still use it on projects that I find myself involved in these days.
Many of the less expensive brake cleaners don't work as well as this.
This has a lot less odor and a lot more pressure than the red or green can CRC, in my opinion. A 3M P100 VOC mask is what I'm wearing.
I went to my local autozone to see if they had it, and they did, but it cost nearly $10 per can. It's cheaper on Amazon, and you'll need a lot of it for heavy cleaning and sludge buildup on old motors, but it'll get the job done. After an oil change, it washes away the oil residue just like water. Also has a strong stream that dries quickly. Because it is extremely noxious, it should only be used in a well-ventilated environment. It's a lot better than the blue and orange "degreaser" or "foaming degreaser" cans.
