Questions & Answers
They do, in fact, Two small velcro openings are located near the bottom of your jacket's zipper. Each chest pad will require one. They're there, even if you have to almost pull the jacket through the zipper slot to find them.
If you have a mesh Alpinestars jacket with foam chest inserts, here's what you need to know: Look beneath the 3/4 zip strip of zipper material (at the bottom, beneath the back protector, and on the inside of the jacket) for a hidden zipper that runs across the lower back of the jacket. To remove and replace the foam chest insert, open the zipper and reach to the lower pocket where it is located, then open the Velcro fastening. This was the exact procedure for the Alpinestars Amok Drystar jacket, and it should be similar, if not identical, to most of their mesh jackets.

These are adequate for the job; they take longer to soften up than most similar style protectors I've used in the past; however, the worst part about them is the foul odor; it smells like baby powder and is all I can smell when I'm stationary with my jacket on, and the odor persists despite thorough washing. I believe I have a poor sense of smell, so I can only imagine how someone with a better sense of smell must feel.
It has a tight fit. It's a little thicker, harder, and heavier than the foam inserts that came with my Astars Megaton jacket. As it warms up, it softens a little. I purchased a MD- I ordered an XL size to fit into my MD jacket, and while it fits in the armour pocket, I believe it is a little too big. When your winter layers are snapped into place, you'll notice how tight everything feels. br>Takes a punch well, but hopes to never have to put them to the test in their intended application.
These were purchased to go with my Amok touring jacket. I don't notice them anymore after about a week of riding with them in. They're well-ventilated and don't appear to be obstructing airflow. Even if you only feel a little bit safer in the event of a crash, it's worth every penny. If I have to use them and they work, I will give it a five-star rating.
In my Rev'It Tornado Jacket, these chest armor pads fit perfectly. Protection and ventilation from foam are excellent. I would strongly suggest it.
Even if your non-Alpinestars jacket lacks chest armor pockets, you can sew these in. By threading fishing line through the circular holes, I sewed these into the mesh lining of my leather AVG Sport Photon jacket. It only took about 20 minutes to make them, and they fit perfectly. The armor provides adequate coverage and is comfortable to wear.
These plates are a little heavier and less flexible than similar-sized d3o plates, but they fit snugly in the alpinestars jacket armor pockets, and you can't feel them once the jacket is on and zipped up, at least on mine. It's nice to know that if the worst happens, my chest will be protected.
These chest protectors look great and provide a lot more protection than the standard foam protectors that come with alpinestars leather jackets. My alpinestars leather jacket was a perfect fit for them. They're adaptable and move with you, so you don't even notice they're there.
My Alpinestars jacket fits perfectly and provides a lot of coverage. The same material as the back insert, with large holes for air circulation.
