Questions & Answers

Will this protect a 12 volt circuit from being overloaded with 24 volts? What are the unit's electrical specifications?

The unit will be blown if you connect 24 volts to it, and you'll have to replace it.

Is it possible to hardwire this to the battery and leave it on all the time, or do I have to connect it every time I weld on the truck?

It must be connected at all times; you can do this by installing a switch and flipping it every time; otherwise, the battery will be drained. I'm not sure if there are any other side effects, so if you used a fluke meter and found the draw was less than 20ma, you could probably leave it connected, but it would probably fail early.

This thing works, I can assure you! Since the time we bought it 74,000 miles ago, I've had a problem with the torque converter lockup in my 2001 Dodge pickup truck transmission due to a voltage surge
5/5

The converter locking and unlocking drove me insane, especially when I turned on the headlights or the air conditioner and the alternator began to change. It took me a while to figure out that it was caused by an electrical surge. I went to Amazon to see if a 12 volt DC surge protector could be found, and there it was. It arrived early, so I connected it to the battery and took it for a test drive, where the transmission shifted flawlessly for the first time. Now I'm going to establish a long-term positive relationship. Love it.

This is a fantastic time saver
5/5

I spent my entire working career as a certified auto/truck technician, and I used the OTC Antizap to protect sensitive electronic circuits on vehicles during welding processes on numerous occasions. br>Now that I'm retired and still do some side work, and I don't have access to my former employer's equipment, I felt compelled to buy my own. Considering how much damage a modern computer-controlled vehicle can sustain during welding procedures, this tool is well worth the money.
