Questions & Answers

My bike is a 2008 Honda Nighthawk 250. Will this lower my rpm at 65mph, where the engine is revved too high for comfort? Is it possible for me to use the stock chain?

If you have a 14T front sprocket, changing to a 15T will reduce your rpms. It's possible that you'll be able to move the wheel forward enough without needing to purchase a new chain.

I have a 2005 Honda Rebel 250 and I'd like to increase the speed on it. What would you suggest I get if I needed to replace the front and back sprockets?

"Stock 14 tooth front" is a term used to describe a set of To keep up with traffic at highway speeds, the 32 tooth rear requires the engine to rev like crazy. You can reduce engine RPM by 1 tooth by changing the rear sprocket to a 32 and keeping the stock chain length (you'll be at the limit of adjustment, but it'll work). In addition, I raised the front sprocket to a 15 tooth. The chain adjuster was returned to its rightful place, and the Rebel was given some decency.

I own a Honda Rebel 250 from 2007. Rubber sides can be found on the front sprocket. Will this suffice as a suitable replacement? Is there going to be a problem?

The rubber sides are only there to help with noise. It contributes to the quiet operation of the chain. It ought to function properly.

Which of the sprockets on display is the one that comes with the purchase?

None of the aforementioned options. The actual sprocket has two drilled and tapped holes, unlike the one on the top left. You may need to grind some material off the trans to make room for a larger front sprocket on some older models (mine is from 1986). The sprocket will fit, but the chain will not unless the case is ground down. take care Remove a little at a time; it's a lengthy process, but it's well worth it when completed correctly.

It's the perfect fit for my 2004 Honda Rebel! This was my first choice because it came highly recommended, and with good reason: it works! br>br>I replaced the stock 14 tooth gear with this 15 tooth and it made a huge difference in my Honda 250's performance
4/5

Before it ran out of gear, and you were nearly vibrating out of your seat by the time you hit 55 mph! But now that I'm 65, I have more gear and more comfort thanks to this 15 tooth! I used the stock chain as well! br>br> I simply loosened the chain, swapped gears, and tightened the chain again to complete the installation. br>From start to finish, it should take no more than 10 minutes. br>The clearance is very tight, and aligning the splines of the new gear while the chain is hooked on to the teeth takes patience, but it fits perfectly!.

This 15 tooth Sprocket has exceeded my expectations! I installed this 15 tooth front sprocket on my 2014 Honda Rebel and I can't say enough good things about how much better my bike rides now
5/5

I went for a 30 mile ride today and was pleasantly surprised at how much faster I could go with lower engine RPM. It's a completely new bike. The bike has plenty of low-end torque, and the hand grips don't hurt my hands as much as they used to when there was a lot of vibration. The bike also climbs hills well in fifth gear, so that's not an issue. I would have left it stock if I lived entirely in the mountains. I live in central Kentucky, and the gearing/ratio on this bike is perfect; the 15 tooth front sprocket change for these Honda Rebels is a no-brainer.

Another ardent supporter of the Nighthawk 250
5/5

I decided to re-gear my 1991 Honda Nighthawk 250 after doing a lot of research. The most well-received change was from stock 14/33 to 15/32, so I went with that. br>br>It honestly feels like a new bike; the low end has been smoothed out, making it feel less jumpy, and 3rd and 4th gear are now usable rather than clicking up to 5th by the time I'm going 35mph. My shifts were spread out more evenly, and my top speed was slightly increased! br>br>I can't stress how important it is to make this change. I've already persuaded a friend to give it a shot with her Honda Rebel.

- IMPORTANT NOTE: Ianbr>br>NOTE: Ianbr>br>NOTE: Ianbr>b Otherwise, the chain will not fit in the crank case if the raised area is facing inward. It's a tight fit, but it SHOULD fit by all accounts.

Like I said in my review of the 30T rear sprocket
5/5

Like I said in my review of the 30T rear sprocket. If you own a Honda Rebel 250, this is a must-have accessory. The gearing that comes with the car is terrible. It's far too low. When you're in 5th (high) gear, it feels like you're driving in second. This counter shaft sprocket, when combined with the 30T rear sprocket, will transform your Rebel into a joy to drive. These sprockets appear to be of the same high quality as the originals.

The Honda Rebel 250 is compatible with this product
4/5

Regardless of what Amazon says, this sprocket DOES fit the 2013 Honda Rebel 250, and it fits perfectly! br>br>The factory gearing is 14/33, which is a very quick ratio.
a 15/33 provides a more boring stock gearing, less peppy, but overall less vibrations, and just under 2010% higher MPGs when cruising. br>This setup isn't recommended for city riding with a lot of stop-and-go. br>br>I want a more cruise-y, easy-ride feeling, so I'll drop from 33 to 30 in the back; br>A 15/30 setup should be more than enough for me. This sprocket has two screw holes instead of one, and it is a solid sprocket. br>br>Very quick shipping!.

This is an excellent enhancement
5/5

This goes a long way toward making first gear more bearable in terms of durability and comfort. This worked on my Honda CMX250 Rebel and extended each of the first gears by about 4 mph, helped with RPMs at speed, didn't affect my gas mileage, and didn't affect my top speed. It's a nice touch, but using the chain instead of the 14T makes it a tight fit. I think the JTR279 is a good buy. If you make this change (15/32 instead of OEM 14/33), you'll need a 32 rear sprocket.

My honda rebel is a perfect fit for this
5/5

My Honda Rebel 15 in the front and 32 in the back fit perfectly. When shifting gears, it did change the rpms. They seem to be higher because when I was running 65, the rpms were smooth and didn't vary too much; now I'm at around 74 with the same rpms. I only have 100 miles on it and will review it soon. I commute 800 miles a week to work in the back and have 17k miles on my bike now, so I'll repost after about 2k.

Fits the Nighthawk Cafe Racer by Honda
5/5

Fits my 1993 Nighthawk 250 perfectly, and the stock chain is still in good condition. Excellent product with excellent quality.
