On the Amazon page, I studied the specifications. "275A continuous at DC 12V, 455A intermittent at DC 12V, 1250A momentary at DC 12V," says the display. 7," which means that if your winch does not draw more current than the numbers given, it should work.
The switch doesn't care about the lug current capacity; it only cares about the lug's physical characteristics, which are unfortunately not standardized. If the lug's connection to the cable is bulky, some mounting allowance may be required. The lug requires a 7/16-inch hole to connect to the switch. Because the metal area surrounding the lug's hole opening cannot be too large or it will short out to the connector on the other side of the switch, some grinding of the lug's squareness may be required. For a fairly thick lug, the available thread on the switch terminals is more than adequate.
There isn't much of a need for instructions. It's a device that I installed in my camper with the goal of disrupting electrical connections. If you only have one main power cable, connect it from the battery to the switch, then from the switch to the main power. If the power side has a lot of connections and you're not sure, you can install the switch on the negative side, which usually connects to a single chassis ground.
Only in the event that the thief is unaware of the location of the kill switch. They can still take the vehicle if it's placed in an accessible area.

Nice quality, but the label instructs you to connect the positive to one side and the negative to the other; if you do so, you will not only smoke your electronics, but you may also be injured. THIS IS A SWITCH THAT IS INSIDE THE LINE! Twisting the dial disconnects the power or breaks the wire, stopping the current flow. DO NOT HOOK POSITIVE TO ONE SIDE AND NEGATIVE TO THE OTHER AS DIRECTED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS! It's fine unless you're a moron!.
If it had come with instructions, this would have gotten a better rating. I somehow missed the rudimentary diagram in the descriptive photos, which may or may not have been present at the time, and instead relied on the photo attached to this review, which shows two colors of wire attached to the switch. Isn't it true that black is a negative and white is a positive? NO! I shorted out $400 in lithium batteries by wiring in this manner! This type of switch should only be connected to the positive circuit, according to what I learned later. I made a stupid mistake, but there should be a wiring diagram in the box, and that photo should be taken down!.
Although the switch appears to be of good quality, it is neither waterproof nor water resistant. Unless you can mount the entire switch inside a dry space, you'll need to remove at least one side knockout to pass your wires through, leaving that side exposed to the elements. Because there is no gasket on the bottom plate, I'm not sure how this will keep water out, even if you caulk like crazy. As a result, the description is at best deceptive.
I put it through its paces at 120A for about 30 minutes. Even though it was tested with all sides open, the switch became extremely hot. This is supposed to have a 275A rating. If it gets hot at 120A, it will start to burn (at least 5. ) at 275A. 2x more power dissipated (due to increased resistance as temperature rises). Another shoddy Amazon product. It's becoming clear that there's so much fake stuff on the market that you can't buy anything technical on Amazon anymore, which is unfortunate.
I'm using this switch as a manual disconnect between the two batteries on my Jeep Wrangler, as shown in the photo, because I trust it far more than some aftermarket automatic disconnects. A note: Because this is a super heavy-duty switch with matching external connections, you'll need attachment lugs with a nearly 1/2-inch hole to fit onto the terminals. There are no issues with this switch; it is of excellent quality.
I needed a simple way to turn the electric fence on and off when entering my chicken yard, and this turned out to be the ideal solution for my 12 volt solar-powered system. The positive connection is switched while the negative is fed straight through. It works perfectly and is very easy to set up. A weatherproof box houses the battery and solar controller. The switch is mounted on the box's exterior, with the wiring coming in through the switch's back and into the box's wall.
I'm using it as a switch for my solar panel. At a very reasonable price, it does exactly what I need it to do.
This was purchased to replace a switch that had been turned too far and snapped off in my camper. This works just as well as the original, and I added instructions with a sharpie, so I won't try to stretch it any further than the previous one. The long screws are probably great for lots of installation options, but they do take a long time to thread if you have a thin wall you are installing this on. ) In fairness, this switch is easier to tell the on and off position than my original, so it will probably last me a long time.
