Actually, I stick to the amp manufacturer's recommended gauge, but yes, it would work.
I'd go with a 4-gauge kit.
There's no need for anything but an amp and some subwoofers.
Very good

a vehicle of medium size. Some of the less expensive install kits can be hit or miss, but I was pleased with this one, especially the soft feel of all the wires. It outperforms acrylic sheathing made of hard plastic. Haters will hate, so ignore the negative reviews that say "wires are a little short," because it tells you EXACTLY how long each wire is. If you have a large car or know you'll be doing a lot of routing, a 25-foot kit will most likely suffice. Also, the people whining about the remote wire: it's a REMOTE wire, and it's supposed to be small. It was the same size as the one that came with my Pioneer stereo. The 8 gauge wire was accurate in size, simple to strip and connect, and the fuse holder performed admirably. The speaker and RCA cables were also of good quality. I was able to wire up a 1000 watt amp with no problems, and it even came with terminal connectors and a few wire ties. I'll take it for under $20.
This kit should suffice if you only need light bass from a single sub and amp. Anyone who would give this less than 5 stars after paying $16 for a fully functional kit must be a moron. I'd be pissed if I paid $50 and got this in the mail, but guess what? It easily handles my 300 watt RMS amp, and the soft touch cable is a lot easier to install than that hard plastic nonsense. Grommets would have been a nice touch, but those are easy to come by.
The kit itself is attractive and well-equipped with the majority of what you'll require. The materials are reasonably priced. HOWEVER- The weakest link in the chain was the online fuse. to say the least. br>I was stumped as to why I couldn't get power to the amp, so I double- and triple-checked everything! I had to get out the multimeter and discovered that there was no 12v at the battery's red wire end. I knew it wasn't going through the online fuse because I had 12 volts at the battery. I used tin foil to fill the gap where the fuse wasn't making contact after taking it apart and fiddling for a while. br>NOT the best solution and only temporary. br>Now I need to buy a new fuse holder for the long run.
I've used several different kits before and was looking to install a budget subwoofer system in my girlfriend's car to add some bass to an already good sound system. I didn't want to spend $50 on a kit because I wasn't trying to win any contests. This kit has exceeded my expectations. Everything works, and the only complaint I have is that the wire connectors are cheap and nearly impossible to use. Instead of using these, I went to Home Depot and bought a box of 8 gauge terminal connectors for $3, which is comparable to the price of this kit. Everything is in working order.
The power lines have a good internal wire thickness, which is larger than the previous 8-wire kit. I used a gauge kit. The connectors and fittings appear to be of good quality as well. I wish one of the RCA cables was right angled, and they're too long for my application (17 feet), but I have no other complaints. This is one you should buy.
The wires are thick for an 8 gauge wire, but the RCA connectors are of poor quality. I don't believe they are shielded, so I had to replace mine with higher-quality RCAs. With less noise and distortion, the sound quality improved. They appear to be copper in the photo, but the ones I received are not. Aside from that, everything was fantastic. Get some triple-shielded rca's as a backup. It's well worth it to have copper that is oxygen-free. An extra $8 was spent.
The wires have a premium texture to them, and unlike other waxy textures, they are as smooth as they are. This is a great value for money complete kit!.
Although the power and ground wires are thick and flexible, they seem to attract corrosion like no other material on the planet. I cut off a small piece of extra length wire and stored it in my garage; both ends are white and corroded, and it hasn't rained since the main wires were installed. I'm not sure if it's just my perception.
