I really like this gauge, and I just put it in my 22re Toyota Pickup because my factory gauge was broken. It's fantastic; I had no idea there were smoked and non-smoked options. I would have preferred the non-smoked version over the smoked version. smoked. Also, the dimming feature should be adjustable or more like P (not 30%). br>br>Before making a purchase, I recommend that you visit their website. I'm disappointed that I didn't get the 10 Color gauge, which can be programmed to sound an alarm if a certain temperature is exceeded. That would have been fantastic. br>br>My main gripe is that the included wiring harness is only about 2 or 3 feet long. Although it is advertised as having a wiring harness included, I had to add a lot of time and money to install it. I suppose it's fine, but for a few dollars more, a 10-foot harness should be standard.

I bought four of these different gauges, and they're well worth the money. Color customization is one of my favorite features. They're also a perfect fit for the GlowShift Pillar Pod. The instructions were straightforward and simple to understand. I had to contact customer service for the following reason, and they were very helpful. I couldn't get the gauges to change colors even after installing and testing them all. In addition, the color-changing button on two of the four gauges was not working. The gauges wouldn't depress because I turned/adjusted them from the outside bezel ring, which turned the bezel ring slightly and jammed the button, according to technical support. I pulled the gauges out of the pod just enough to grab the gauge from the main body and align it as needed, then turned the bezel back to release the pressure on the button as instructed. The buttons then functioned properly, but the colors did not change as a result of the second reason given by tech support: the instructions state that if wiring directly to the battery, as I did, a 3 amp fuse should be used. Instead of four lines and four fuses, I only used one main line (fused) from the battery to the pod. I then connected each gauge to the main line, which created another issue in terms of proper operation, as the 3 amp fuse was insufficient to power all four gauges. I switched out the 3 amp fuse for a 7. Everything functions perfectly at 5 amps. Although this information about the bezel ring and wiring method should have been included in the sheet instructions, the tech support was excellent.

The fit and finish are excellent, and installation was simple (apart from the required gymnastics for working under any vehicle's dashboard). The face screens on the gauge are razor sharp, and the color options, combined with the standard brightness levels, make for a very readable display. br>br>This gauge has the option of dimming the display when the headlights are turned on, but I'm not going to use it because the light level isn't offensive; in fact, it may be too subdued for some users, as I always dim my dash illumination because I find bright dash lighting distracting. The fact that only the necessary information is illuminated, as opposed to many vehicles where EVERYTHING glows, turning the gauge cluster into a fireworks display, is the defining feature here. br>br>The gauge is easy to read and has a great startup sweep, which I always enjoy (don't judge me!). br>br>The precision appears to be reasonable, but I don't have a baseline to compare it to, so you'll have to take my word for it. However, rest assured that temperature measurement with the precision required in an automobile is NOT rocket science, and even the Chinese are likely to be able to complete the task within reasonable tolerances. The only thing that matters is whether or not the instrument lasts. br>br>How do you feel about it at first? I like the product a lot and plan to buy more Glowshift parts as my truck project progresses.

It was well worth the money. I have this gauge, as well as the transmission and water temperature gauges. All three are fantastic. When the ignition is turned on, I enjoy the stepper motor action as it "boots" up. It is very simple to set up. It gives off a lovely glow both during the day and at night. The only drawback, which is minor, is that the wiring harness that comes with it is only a foot long, so expect to buy more. I recommend 18 gauge (the instructions even say to use 18 gauge, but I could tell by looking at the wiring what gauge to use). I also purchased swivel gauge pods from Amazon (TabStore DBPower® 2" 52mm Car Automobile Universal Gauge Meter Pod Holder Cup Mount Cover 360 Degrees Swivel 45 Degrees Pitch) and they work great with just a little hot glue to ensure a secure and tight fit. I would strongly suggest it. Here are three photos of them in my 1994 Chevy C1500, along with the gauge pods mentioned earlier.

The gauge in the image is mounted in an idling car with a 185°F thermostat (which is set to read around 165°F). When a mechanical gauge is installed in the same location and under the same conditions, the reading is 182. Customer service at GloShift was courteous, but they didn't explain the measurement discrepancy. In conclusion, they assure me that this is not a problem of theirs. By the way, I compared the mechanical gauge in boiling water to a different thermometer and found no differences. I can't risk my engine on this level of precision, but it does look nice, and if I could, I would return it.

When the stepper motor is turned on, you can hear it sweep. Backlights are blinding at night (dimmer isn't wired, so take that with a grain of salt) and don't remember color settings for some reason. By a factor of three, it's slightly off. According to my ecu, the temperature is 7 degrees, but this could be due to the location of my ecu. Will be replaced in the future, but it serves as an excellent ballpark gauge in the meantime.
