Questions & Answers

Is it compatible with the 2018 Chevy Malibu?

It simply connects to a vacuum line and works on any car.

Has anyone else had issues with the boost gauge not being calibrated properly? I'm not going to be able to zero it out. ?

My car has been in winter hibernation for a month and a half, so my memory might be faulty. In the summer, I drive between 5000 and 9000 feet above sea level. I'm not sure what you're asking, or what you're saying. The gauge is calibrated to the pressure at sea level, which is 14 inches of mercury. 7 psi. When the unit is turned on but the engine is turned off, it shows local atmospheric pressure as a percentage of sea level. It should be visible at my elevation of 8000 feet, and it is - 7 inHG. As a result of my 8000-foot altitude, the atmospheric pressure in the intake manifold is lower than at sea level. There is no way to change the reference pressure to your local atmospheric pressure; it is fixed at 14. 7 psi. Only the pressure in the intake manifold is measured using the gauge, which is set to sea level. Now, in the case of a turbocharged or supercharged engine, boost is required just to return the intake manifold pressure to sea level. My supercharger must generate 3.0 horsepower at 8000 feet. 8 psi boost just to get the engine back to sea level, which would be a gauge reading of 0, i.e. hp on hand At 5500 feet altitude, I have my supercharger set to a maximum boost of 7 psi. At 5500 feet, there is a total boost of 9.0 inches above atmospheric pressure. To get the boost, set the pressure to 7 psi above sea level. By pressing the 'Pk' button, you can see the gauge's stored peak boost. Press 'Pk' to bring up the peak value, then press and hold the 'Pk' button until the word 'Clr' appears on the display, then release the button.

Is there a T fitting for the vacuum line included with this?

Yes, a small plastic T fitting (1/8") is included with it. It's a good fit for the vacuum line (7/64"), which came with it. The included barb adapter, on the other hand, is 3/16" and will not fit the vacuum line. Everyone, according to my experience and what I've read, must obtain their own T-shirt. In addition to what AEM provides, you'll need to buy your own fittings and vacuum hose. It's perplexing, but it's the truth; Please see the instructions on the AEM website; hopefully, this will be of assistance.

Is this gauge suitable for use in wet environments?

No, it isn't water resistant.

The boost gauge is excellent
5/5

These are fantastic boost gauges that are extremely thin, allowing you to mount them in a variety of ways. One thing to keep in mind is that this gauge requires a power source that stays hot during cranking in order for it to properly self-calibrate once the key is turned on. If the power is turned off while cranking, the vacuum will calibrate. An audible warning, rather than just a flashing display, is something I'd like to see in this gauge. Rather than being forced to watch the gauge, it's nice to be able to focus on the road and hear a warning.

The boost and air-to-fuel gauges are essential on the aem x series gauges. I've had gauges that were way off before, but these are spot on. This is the third time I've ordered gauges from these guys, and I spoke with him over the phone. He was very helpful and solid in pointing me in the right direction. These guys at High End Auto Sports ARE REAL CAR GUYS who build cars themselves, and I highly recommend them.

Software with the highest quality and engine management

AEM 30- 0306 X- Series Boost Pressure Gauge, AEM Gauges are the best quality and most reliable when installed correctly, though they are more expensive than the unreliable readings from other brands that are also less expensive in quality and don't last. This one, along with the AEM 03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03-03 0334 X- I know that when scanning or Dyno Tuning with the Series Wideband Uego AFR Sensor Controller Gauge I bought, my Tuner can trust the numbers these gauges report.

Great group of people

Excellent products. It's just a problem with this product; I've been a mechanic for 22 years and am an ASE Master Tech. For many years, I've used AEM products on both my own builds and those of my clients. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with a product. This, along with a Wideband AFR gauge, were purchased for a 2019 Subaru STi build. They're both stunningly designed and well-made gauges, and the installation was simple with no calibration required. For about two weeks, the Boost gauge worked perfectly, but then the customer complained that it was always reading "SEnS. " I experimented with a new vacuum/boost line as well as a new fuse tap. There has been no modification. To bench test the sensor and gauge, I removed the gauge sensor and wiring. Both times, they were unsuccessful. AEM was extremely helpful when I contacted them. After I explained the problem and the steps I took to fix it, they started the warranty claim. They're sending another one right now.

The data is incorrect
3/5

This gauge has a nice appearance, but it is in fact inaccurate. At idle, the gauge reads about 4 psi lower than it should, and at 11 psi, it reads 12-psi higher than it should. Another extremely precise lisle gauge has confirmed this. The instructions were carefully followed, and it was wired to receive a continuous source of power so that cranking would not interrupt it. When you choose a name brand like AEM, you can expect a piece that is accurate and of high quality. I'll keep you updated if/when the seller or AEM responds, hopefully to resolve the issue.

Although it appears to be attractive, it is flawed from the start
3/5

So I had high hopes for AEM, ordered this gauge, and proceeded to install it according to the instructions. The gauge read SEnS right away after it was wired up. I tried the sensor in a few different places (different locations for vacuum/boost) and it didn't work. I contacted AEM's technical support, who assisted me in attempting to "resolve" the problem. It was determined that the problem was caused by a malfunctioning sensor. A replacement sensor was sent to me. Yesterday, I received a replacement sensor. I replaced the old sensor with a new one, and it did the same thing. I'm waiting for a response from AEM, but I'm not happy with this gauge. That's all there is to it. It looks good.

The larger display when the LEDs are lit is the most noticeable feature of this product
5/5

When compared to previous generation gauges, it is easier to see the digits. AEM does not provide a mount for the boost sensor, so be careful how you mount it. I modified a radiator fan bracket from a SPAL kit and made a bracket out of zip ties. So far, everything has gone well.
