Although this is a generally good product, I did run into a minor problem during installation. The instructions are fine, but the illustrations for product placement are not very precise; I thought I installed it exactly as the instructions showed, but I ended up with a quarter-inch gap between the weatherstrip and the tailgate. It's difficult to remove once it's stuck to the metal, and removing it is a waste of time. On my Toyota Tacoma, I had quite a bit left over, so I'd recommend cutting off a small piece and testing the fit before installing the entire length.
It was simple to set up this product. I followed the instructions to ensure proper adhesion, but the weather stripping eventually came loose after about two weeks. I used soap and water to clean the bed. After that, I used several alcohol wipes and a 3M product designed to improve plastic adhesion. I bought a gap shield to keep dirt and debris from falling down onto the weather strip and causing separation from the truck bed, but that's exactly what happened. Even so, sand and dust were able to get into the adhesive strip, causing it to come loose. Too bad. This time, I was expecting a lot.
The product looked great, but it didn't fit my truck. The original ad stated that it would fit any truck model or size, which isn't true because the 2020 Chevy Silverados require a special one that they don't have yet.
It's not a good match for a Coloradan. Because I have a cover, I only need it on the sides. To fill the gap at the top, I had to use a small piece. It's most likely not the seal's fault, but rather the Colorado's strange tailgate. I'm not sure how well it'll hold up. Let's hope for the best.
The company where I purchased my tonneau cover had provided me with a foam sealing roll. br>However, it was only enough to complete the side and the lower portion of the tailgate. br>By far, this is an excellent product, and I'm relieved to know that my lower tailgate is protected from moisture.
Gasket of excellent quality. For a full-size Silverado, I had to order two rolls. ESI got in touch with me and said they'd figure out how much each vehicle requires. br>Instructions for installation should also be improved. br>br>Overall, a good product.
Instead of the tailgate, this was mounted on the edge of the GMC truck bed. So far, it's holding up well. I previously installed a tailgate seal, which rolled completely off the tailgate after a year or so of open/close. br>Recent changes: This seal has been in place for a few months and is in perfect working order. Much better than the kind that attaches to the tailgate.
Due to the nature of the work, it is satisfactory. It was used on a Nissan Frontier. Due to the odd tailgate design on these trucks, it works just fine. It keeps the bed dryer than if it wasn't on it. Some water still gets in, but it's not the product's design that's the issue.
