My name is Jason and I'd need the vin# to look at whether or not this part will fit your truck. There are 2 different body styles on 2004 and none of the part numbers are interchangeable.
The short bed is fine with this solution.

The choice between this genuine OEM bed extender and a much cheaper bed organizer was not clear to me. You shouldn't expect to haul anything in excess of the tailgate, for now at least. It still needs something to keep small items from scattering across the bed of my truck, particularly If I could crawl in and out of the pit then it would be awesome Purchase groceries at the market.
