It's a fantastic value for money! The galvanized hardware that is attached is appropriate for the intended use. The brummel splice was done correctly, and the bury was tapered according to the book's instructions, though not exactly how I would do it. The chafe guard is both large and useful. The rope is comparable to other Chinese dyneema/spectra/uhmwpe ropes in terms of quality. Although the diameter is closer to 10mm than 3/8 inch, they are both fairly close. The length was more like 95 feet than the labeled 100 feet. I'm guessing the length before splicing was close to 100 feet.
So far, it appears to be a decent rope. It came with a stainless steel tube thimble, which was much nicer than I had expected. Wish they sold a version with a loop at the drum end for my Warn Zeon (it won't be too difficult to cut off the factory crimped sleeve and tie in a loop myself, but it would be more convenient if I could buy it that way). The only real flaw is that the product came in a plastic bag that looked like a newspaper, so the rope got a little scuffed in transit (a box with some bubble wrap could have made this a 5-star rating).
along with, to assist in the placement of a tree in a tight space I was able to apply a great deal of tension to the line, causing the tree to fall exactly where I wanted it to. This is a very strong rope in terms of diameter and weight! Although this is probably not the most common use for this item, I strongly suggest it! I was able to avoid paying the tree service $1000 to complete the job.
I made a loop in this synthetic rope ahead of time and then used it in a critical situation. Splicing strengthens the knot and is a simple process. This "rope," when used in conjunction with my synthetic winch rope, worked flawlessly. I drove my 2003 Tacoma through 80 feet of muck, and this rope held up just as well as the stock Smittybilt rope, and I was able to get my buddy out. I used both ropes to attach from a distance of 175 feet. I'm going to get another one because you can never have enough "cable" when you're in trouble. br>br>Synthetic is a light, safe material.
I just got it today and tried to use it to get a stuck vehicle out of it, but it snapped on the first pull. Despite the fact that this rope was running through two 25-ton snatch blocks and was only pulling 1/3 to 1/2 the weight of the stuck vehicle, it snapped. It was a steady, gentle pull, with no hard bumps or hits on the rope.
When I got the product in my hands, I realized it was a low-cost, low-quality item, so I didn't even risk installing it on my winch and pulling something; instead, I'll use it as a simple rope for home improvement projects.
