Thank you for your inquiry. It is not required to use a hook stopper, but it can help prevent damage to your winch line and fairlead if you over-tow. Winch must be reeled in.
It all depends on the weight of your trailer; just make sure you don't go over the load limit.

Okay, it appeared to be good, and I expected it to be. I WAS WRONG, BY THE WAY. I used this rope and a 4000lb winch to lift my 1350lb sxs onto my truck's sxs rack. My $24,000 sxs was thrown down a hill and into a tree when it snapped. br>I wouldn't suggest squandering your cash. When I put this crap on two of my SXS's, it WILL come off and be thrown away!.
It worked well for one ride, which I took a dozen times. After the first ride, the rope appeared worn and in bad shape, and when I went to load it up on the second ride, it broke. It's ok for the money, though. I've had worse ropes in my life. Now I'm going to look for a more cost-effective rope.
To make my winches work, I had to cut off the connecting eyelet. For the RZR and Geo Tracker, 8200 lbs will be sufficient. Before attaching the rope to the winch, make sure the hook stop is threaded. It would be nice if the first 5 feet of rope had a different color or marker to indicate when the spooled rope is getting close to the end. I bought a winch cover for the Badlands to keep it clean and protected from the sun, but the UTV winch is already mounted in a protected location on the RZR. The hooks and the stop appear to be of good quality.
When it's attached to my 4500lb winch and snaps repeatedly while lifting a 150-pound load, there's no way it's rated for 8000lbs. Plow with a weight of 200 pounds. br>It's a nice setup, and I like the extras that come with it. It definitely adds to the package's value, but I'm not sure if it'll be reliable for anything other than the driveway when I need it.
We then proceeded to cut our hands on the old steel cable, of course. Today was the first time I used it, and I used it to pull a rather large tree from the side of our field. It worked perfectly and I was never bothered by stupid wire fray! The hook is fantastic!.
I thought this was industrial strength, but for $15 I could have gotten one from China like I did the last time. The best advice I can give is to get as much length on the heat resistant as possible.
This isn't the same color as the one shown on the website. I'm a little let down by this. Although the clip is a dark red, the rope appears to be pink. ish.
Very nice product, though I had to clip the end of my winch because it was tied rather than bolted. I would recommend it to anyone. 5 stars.
