Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with a Chevy G-body from the 1980s? a van in a series?

It will fit as long as the top of the van door is square. The back doors on my 2010 express van weren't square. I went to a body shop for assistance in bending one side of the ladder so that it would hang straight.

Can this ladder be used on a 1995 GMC Vandura 2500?

The ladder has a 52-foot length. 5" high x 13" wide, top arms resemble hocks, bottom arms have two screws, very light, and can be installed on either the right or left side of the doors, easy assembly, which I like, and can be used in any brand of van if the measurements are fift.

Is it possible to reduce the length to 48"?

You won't be able to make this ladder any shorter. Simply use the exact size.

Is this compatible with a 1995 E150 van?

This worked perfectly on my 1997 Ford E350, which has the same body style as the 1995 E150. Rubber washers were placed under the attachment points to prevent the paint from being scratched. To make the washers, I cut up inner tubes. br>In most cases, you'd put this on the left door so that it doesn't get in the way when you open the right door. When you tighten the screws, it will slightly bend to follow the curve of the door. Sheet metal screws with self-tapping heads were used. br>After that, I transferred it to my 2008 Ford E250, where it fit perfectly. It's extremely durable, and I've loaded a lot of wood with it over the years. It still looks and works perfectly after all these years. Blessings, br>br>br>br>br>br>b

This item will not fit the Chevy G series vans
3/5

I bought it because it said "fits all Chevrolet vans," but it's too long and will need to be bent to fit my 1994 Chevrolet G20 cargo van. br>br>I'm concerned that bending it will compromise its strength because it's made of aluminum, which is not as resistant to bending as steel, but it's the only way to get this product to work with my model. br>br>In my opinion, poor fit is a major flaw, but it can be worked around, and the ladder itself appears to be quite nice; I'll update once I've used it.

My 2010 Ford E350 was a perfect fit
4/5

To keep the lower screw holes from protruding past the bottom of the door, I had to slightly bend the ladder with my body weight. There were no instructions for how to put it together. Self-drilling screws would have made the job a lot easier, but I didn't have any on hand. It wasn't a deal breaker to drill the 10 1/8 inch holes. The ladder is extremely light, but it appears to be quite stable when climbing. Only protrudes slightly beyond the bumper's back.

For a 2009 Chevy Express cargo van, this is perfect
5/5

Ok, all I'm going to say is that anyone who can't install this on a Chevy 3500 express cargo van (mine from 2009) shouldn't be doing any skilled labor work. This took me ten minutes to set up on my own. br>First, hang it on the desired door. br>Second, attach the top screw on the side of the ladder to the door's highest point. br>3rd, align it by site directly beneath the top you just installed (make sure it's parallel to the door). br>4th, for the time being, install two of the four top screws. br>5th Eye level it to the bottom across from the one just secured (do not use a level to double check for level to the door) and secure all four screws once satisfied. br>6th, add the remaining two screws to the other side. br>7th, stand on the ladder and add the final screw to the top hole on the last side; it will line up perfectly without the use of a tubing bender or other tools. br>You now have a fantastic new ladder for reaching the ladder rack above or whatever other purpose you had in mind. br>It's really that simple, and my version is rock solid!.

The Ram Promaster high top does not fit
4/5

Although it appears to be a good ladder, the Promaster's door shape prevents it from fitting. The top hooks don't quite fit the door, and if I actually drilled the holes for it up there, the bolts would just go right through the seal. Because I already have it, I'm going to try attaching some shims to the bottom of the supports and simply letting it hang from the door frame when not in use. It's a little short for high-top vans in general, but I'm up for the challenge.

For a proper fit, you may need to get creative
3/5

There are two types of users who should use this ladder: Someone who only needs it to work and isn't concerned with how well it fits or what it does to their vehicle, or someone who is good at problem solving and can modify it to make it fit properly and look good. br>br>I purchased one of these for my 2001 Econoline (similar to the one shown in the product image); On a test hang, the first thing I noticed was that A) the right side hung a little lower than the left, putting it at an angle with the lower two screw holes falling below the door edge, and B) there wasn't enough bend at the top to allow the bottom flanges to touch the door (about a 4" distance); When I pushed the bottom of the door to meet the top of the door, it flexed. To fix "B," I used a grinder to shave a slight angle into the tubes and remove the top "hooks. " However, "A" is still a work in progress for me. The bottom flanges were leveled with the bottom of the door, resulting in a straight vertical ladder with level rungs; however, the top right hook sticks up about 1/4" above the edge of the door, with the screw hole above the edge of the door. For the time being, I've filled the hook gap with a folded piece of bicycle tube, but it looks terrible and the hook is catching on the rain gutter, so it'll have to be "fixed" in some way.

On a GMC chevy, it does not fit perfectly
4/5

Because the top is flat, it does not fit perfectly on the back of a GMC Savana or a Chevrolet Express, but it does fit well enough.

This was a good buy
5/5

This ladder has been in our possession for about a month. It's on the back left door of a 2016 Chevy Express. It slips over the door and is secured at the bottom with a screw. Ladders are simple to use and transport from the van's roof.

Fits my 2018 Promaster high-roof model perfectly! This was purchased in the hopes of fitting my 2018 Dodge Ram Promaster with a high roof
5/5

It does! The ladder for the van costs three times as much as this one. However, it is effective. It was simple to set up. Make sure you have a predrill on hand (especially for the top two screws). I purchased this rack to transport my bike and did not intend to use it to climb onto the roof of my van. It does, however, support my weight (I'm 195 pounds).
