Currently, I'm installing them on a 2018 Ram 1500 that has a cab- As long as the connections are tight and the tape job prevents the connections from loosening over time, there will not be any issue. A loose connection will cause a false alert for the "bulb-out" condition.
A wiring harness is not included with this kit. All that is included are the wire connectors and diodes.

There is a separate brake light and turn signal on my car. My next step was to connect the diode assembly to the brake light on Now that the brake light is a turn signal as well as a brake light when being towed. The red brake light and the amber turn signal work properly as long as the car is detached from the RV. There is no difference between driving or towing a vehicle with its tail lights.
Having these installed on the daily driver in my car allows me to use the reverse lights as scene lights when I wish. For this purpose, it is much cheaper to buy external lighting fixtures.
As time goes on, it looks like diodes are at fault because if I remove them, the tail lights return to However, that allows backfeeding, which I know is bad. My next step will be to go to a store, since at this point I should be able to function.
The Honda Civic I tow behind our RV is pulled on a tow dolly. Through the use of these diodes and a wiring harness, I was able to hardwire my Honda Civic so the factory lights work when I'm using my turn signals, brakes, and running lights. Since I don't need to use magnetized, stick-on towing lights, my car's paint will stay in good condition.
A prewired harness is not available for this truck in the aftermarket. A whole lot of time and effort have to go into reaching the harness and figuring out which cables to cut. I still added the diodes and it was so easy! As of now, my truck uses its own lights when it is being towed.
Three were defective. No one was able to use them. I did follow the instructions for installing them. The vendor authorized returning the item at a UPC center, but the closest one is quite far away and takes more time and fuel than the price of the item. Luckily, I bought individual diodes and made my own setup that works flawlessly.
I have been using these since I installed them on my TOAD. My 1999 Chevy Metro is in good condition. I have towed with it twice, and it works well. My toad has separate turn signals as well. Thus, I had to use the turn signal wires to provide both turn signals and break lights on the toad while towing, thus not using the factory orange turn signals. I was very satisfied with the results. There is no backfeeding of power to the electrical system of the toad. In order to verify that the installation was proper, I did a quick Google.
I was having some wiring issues with my custom flatbed 07 Tacoma setup for the rear lights. I'm glad I found this article. Due to the fact that my truck used the same bulbs for the turn and brake signals, I had to purchase these diode packs to prevent the signal from feeding back through the brake switch and making both lights flash at the same time. Already, I have had them installed in an outdoor environment and have gone through quite a bit of weather without any issues.
