Almost every review I read was from people who had never used them before. br>br>I own and operate a non-profit organization. We tested these in the last month on sand, marsh, and mud for a road recovery organization. Regrettably, they have FAILED and have not worked in any application. The steel cable on one of the mats has already broken and it has fallen apart, and they provide almost no traction in mud. These traction mats will simply cause the tires to spin. If you get stuck in the sand and can't move the vehicle, it's useless because the ends are too thick to simply slide under your tires. The roll-up concept is brilliant, but the final product is a FAIL. br>br>To cut a long story short, these are not something I would recommend.

I'm sorry I bought these because they're completely useless. Save your money and get a tube of sand; not only will it provide weight, but it will also provide traction for your tires, at least if you get stuck in the snow. EDIT: br>br> Just to be clear, If you're stuck in the snow and can't get out, you won't be able to rock your tires on top of the mats because they don't have a beveled end for the tires to roll onto or pull the mat under from.

Even though I have a 4wd Rav4 with excellent tires, I continue to make foolish decisions that cause me to become stuck in the snow. Deep, as well! I live in Michigan, and I travel to the United States on a regular basis. Play on ORV trails and seasonal highways during the winter. In addition, I have physical limitations that make traditional chains difficult for me to use. I got stuck in an ORV trail snowstorm the first time I used these after purchasing them. bank. br>br>After removing the snow and ice from the tires, I shoved one under a front tire and the other under the opposing rear tire, and I was out on the first try! br>br>I've discovered that putting the end with the metal knob under the tire is extremely important for grip. I purchased a small Army supply folding shovel, which came in handy for chipping ice and snow from the tire tracks. br>br>After reading all of the reviews, I was hesitant, but after experimenting with a few different methods, I discovered that staggering them (ex: one driver in the front, one passenger in the back). Unless I dug out under the front of the tire, my tires would not pick up the tread. It's not just a matter of wedgeing it in place by hand.

These traction mats appear to be of good craftsmanship. They're lightweight and can be stored separately in separate bags. They are kept in my car's trunk. I deliver newspapers between the hours of 1 a. m. and 1 a. m 15:15 – 5:00 p. m. 00am. The snow and ice are pushed up to the newspaper tube by the plow trucks. To get close enough with my car to make the delivery, I sometimes have to try to navigate through the snow and ice. I've gotten stuck before and had to call for a tow truck to help me out. I'm hoping that the traction mats will keep me from having to call a tow truck. If that's the case, you've spent your money wisely.

During the recent snowstorm, I couldn't get out of my driveway, so I used the traction tracker and was out in under a minute. It is a must-have item that comes highly recommended.

Despite the fact that I have yet to put it to use - It's only a matter of time for me because I live in the Northeast and travel frequently, and I was stuck in the snow last year. One of these was given to me by a very nice lady who came over to assist me. I was also able to un- stuck. It doesn't take up a lot of space in the trunk, and while I may not need it very often, if I do, I'll be prepared. It'll be well worth your time and effort!.

These were purchased for my camper van in the event that we became stranded in the mud. I haven't used them yet, but they appear to be well made and heavy duty.
