These side steps were purchased to make it easier for my wife and children to enter and exit my truck ('18 F-150). Supercrew (150 XLT) Overall, I think it's a good product, but I'll list some advantages and disadvantages below. br>br>The best features of these side steps are their appearance and functionality. The polished chrome finish is stunning, and the prices are reasonable enough that even my 4-year-old can afford them. year- Without having to crawl in on her belly, old can get into the truck by herself. br>br>My concern, and the reason I gave four instead of five stars, is that I'm concerned about how long they'll last before becoming damaged. Although the mounting brackets are thick and heavy metal, they are made of a soft metal. One of those brackets had a kink in the corner. Thankfully, simply tightening down the step removed the majority of the bend, but their softness worries me. They do support my weight (I'm 270 pounds), but I've noticed that they flex when I step on them. br>br>I'm also concerned about the chrome coating's thickness. I was extremely careful during installation, using bubble wrap and a blanket to ensure they didn't come into contact with the ground, but the chrome still got scratched. The instructions state that non-toxic paint must be applied on a regular basis. For protection, use abrasive wax. That's the first time I've ever seen such a warning on a chrome product. All of this leads me to believe that there will be some pitting and/or peeling over time. br>br>Installation was relatively simple, but I'm not sure how some of you did it in half an hour! It took me about an hour and a half to complete. I was, however, working alone. br>br>Overall, these appear to be a good value for the money. I'll consider it money well spent if they stay in decent shape for a year.
To correct this, I recommend running bolts in and out once before installing them. To get this piece of something out of the threaded hole, I had to use a punch and a hammer. Aside from that, I'm very pleased with the appearance and durability. If it hadn't been for this jerk, the installation would have been simple.
These look good and feel sturdy, and they went on quickly and easily (it only took that long because I wasn't sure how the bolts would feel going in and didn't want to cross-thread them). They should be threaded together. I believe some of the bolts were difficult to turn due to the paint on the frame; otherwise, it would have been a breeze. You can try to find a bolt that matches the threads, but I'm not sure what size these were. I'm very happy with these and would highly recommend them. br>br>My only gripe is that the delivery company is slacker and fails to deliver. I finally called the shipping company after three days of these being "out for delivery" on the truck and told them to hold it at a retail store while I went to pick them up. I informed the seller of the issue so that they could seek out a more suitable shipping partner, but they were unconcerned. But, hey, I got them anyway.
I was a little apprehensive about taking on this installation project on my own, but it turned out to be incredibly simple. To begin, Ford has already welded the threaded mounting bolts to the truck's frame. All you have to do now is place the three brackets over the mounting bolts and secure them with the supplied nut and washer. The nerf bar is then bolted to each bracket with one threaded bolt. After you've double-checked that everything is aligned and level, tighten all of the bolts one last time, and you're done. It took me about 1 hour to complete the driver's side, but only 20 minutes to complete the passenger's side because I was an expert at that point. It's best to have an extra set of hands, but I was able to do it alone by propping one end up with a cardboard box while securing the other. Without a step stool, my wife can now get into the truck, and I must admit, it is much easier for me as well. One word of caution with this type of Running Board: there is a gap between the bar and the truck frame, and someone with small feet or a woman wearing high heels could easily get their leg caught between the two. Aside from that, everything was in one box, there were no missing parts, and the instructions were adequate.
It's a stainless side-step that does what you want, so it's exactly what you'd expect. If you keep it clean, it looks great and, all things considered (and properly installed), it's quite durable. You won't find a better deal for the money. My only disappointment, as with most things, is that they aren't made in the United States, but I'd have to pay at least twice as much for something of comparable quality made here, which I simply couldn't afford (sigh). Because this steel is fairly thin, I docked a point for Sturdiness. It's easy to dent them (edges, even out in the middle, if circumstances allow) while installing them. Gravel, rocks, clamps, and other similar materials). Overall, though, it's a fantastic product, especially for the price.
To begin with the positive, the price is extremely reasonable for the quality of the product. They're well-made and incredibly simple to put together. On my 2018 Ford F-150, I put them in. I'm about an hour and a half with the 150 xlt. I'm overjoyed because they look fantastic. However, I must deduct one star because both sides have dents that are quite noticeable, but I can live with it because of the quality, price, and ease of installation. Don't be hesitant; they look fantastic on my F-150. 150 members of the Supercrew.
For the installation of small steps on our crew cab, we were quoted $500 by the Ford dealership. We were hesitant to buy steps and install them ourselves because my husband is not "mechanically inclined," so we opted to have the dealership install the small ones. We couldn't believe the low price on Amazon, so we placed our order and hoped for the best. They arrived earlier than expected, and by the time I arrived home, my husband had already loaded them onto the truck, and they are fantastic! I am overjoyed to have them in my life.
The seller and the steps were both accurate. FedEx was not one of them. The steps are well-built and attractive, and they were simple to put together. The only issue was with the delivery - Fedex misplaced not one, but two sets of steps, and it took a month and a half for me to receive the shipment. Throughout the process, the seller remained on top of things and was extremely responsive and helpful.
