For over a year I have used mine without the bolts and it has stayed in place.
As for your second question, I have not determined the proper size of wrench for the self-tapping screws because it was included in the installation kit that came

It's been a pleasure. Was able to reposition the plate higher using the included anchors so that it does not hang below the bumper edge, and add lower anchors as well. In the end, we had to drill the bumper with a 3/8" bit and then insert the anchor plugs (which took some There is a lot of security in the anchors because of the screws. Black frames / plates look great with the black finish.
There is no difference between the threads on screws and the threads used by most OEM standard imbedded license plate holes.
I live on a very bumpy road and was afraid the product would rattle loose when I used it. I was very impressed by the solidity of the mount when I completed the install. I put tape on the plate to hold it in precise location, then with the plate in position, I grabbed a tiny drill and drilled it down to the center of the hole. I removed the tape from the plate and then removed the bit. There was no skip with the bit, and it went in easily. As I worked, I gradually used larger bits until I found the closest bit that worked for me. In the face of this, I then pressed the nylon insert, and found the hole was slightly too small. It was the same bit that I used in reamering and I lightly reamed it in circular motion until I was satisfied it was close, but tight. My thumb was the only thing holding it in place, so I snapped it in. Then, I used the supplied screws and the supplied wrench to snug them both up. It's well mounted and has a very solid feel. The outcome is just what I was hoping for. It seems to me that you don't want to make the hole too big, maybe even a bit smaller.
He found the bottom of the plate to fit loosely, and this caused it to rattle from time to time. The plate has been removed. By hand, rubber bumpers could be removed from the chassis, and new inserts were easily inserted into the holes at the bottom. Use the included wrench to install the four new screws on the plate. Compared with the previous zinc-plated flange head screws, these look much nicer. For those who don't like round scars left by the previous flange head screws, you can upgrade to the R9723 pack that has black stainless steel washers you can use to cover the round scarring left by the Although OEM plastic inserts seem to be a little more robust, it is highly unlikely that the plate will ever become.
As advertised, the product is exactly as described, but it must be used correctly by inserting fillers into the license plate hole in order to tighten the screws. The inserts were difficult to put into the vehicle I have (2019 Audi A6), and I am suspecting they may not fit well into other vehicles as well. Keep a close eye on things. If the screw holes on your plates are not large enough, the inserts may not fit and that will prevent you from using the rest of the product.
that I would have thought would have been nice is a little more size in the heads. There was an issue with the screws being too large and the license plate appears a bit messed up due to this. There is a gap between these screw heads and the gap. The plates were new when I bought these and I wish I had gotten them then. The hex head is a neat feature that I think makes things more secure.
In this case, they are metal screws, and the OEM plate holder is a machine screw tread. They damaged the threads in my plate holder, so I had to replace it. The error of my ways I failed to check before I drove The only problem is that they do not fit Range Rovers. There is nothing that could work in this kit.
The license plate I needed for my car was just what I wanted. I've tested it on my 2017 Honda CRV and it works perfectly. Even though the screw head type is L-shaped Although the traditional screwdriver is not very common to steal plates, thieves who are trying to steal them usually use an Allen Key type wrench. the very least, this makes it more challenging for you.
