Questions & Answers

What's the best way to get rid of your old bands?

It's not difficult to do.
1. Remove the hood latch by simply undoing it.
2. Using a hex driver, remove the lower and upper brackets from the original rubber straps. Before you disassemble, take a photo so you can replace the straps. Existing plastic ends must be properly gathered.
3. Because the new rubber straps are shorter than the originals, they should be soaked in hot water for a few minutes before reassembling them. This will make them more plyable and easier to snap in the hood latches. br>My 2015 JK hood fluttered a lot, but the new rubber straps keep the hood in place and prevent any movement.

Is it compatible with a 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

I'm not sure why they wouldn't, but I don't see why they wouldn't. I scribbled them down on a calendar for the year 2010. Make sure they're listed the same for 2010 and 2014 at one of the big parts stores, and if they are, you're good to go. It was one of the most effective and straightforward upgrades I've ever made. The hood hop was completely eliminated.

Is this compatible with a Jeep Wrangler from the year 2000?

Possibly. Unstretched, your stock rubber hold downs are about 2 1/2" eye to eye. These are about 3". Because these are more difficult to stretch, they should work just fine.

It specifies that it is suitable for 07- It says it doesn't fit my 16 because it's a size 17, but it's actually a size 17. Is it going to happen?

When the phrase ". It is appropriate for the year 2007 " That term encompassed the years 2007 to 2017, inclusive of all years. It will work for 2016, as it is between 2007 and 2017.

As advertised, it's a 15-minute job if you have a utility knife and a small bolt cutter on hand
5/5

Perfect. br>With the right tools, it only takes 10 minutes to install. 1) Dip the urethane straps in hot water as soon as you open the package. I filled a beer mug halfway with water and tossed them in. 2) Using a NEW utility knife blade, cut away the factory rubber. In less than 30 seconds, they cut like butter. br>3) Cut the bolts with a small pair of bolt cutters. If you don't already have them, pick up a 20-dollar set at a hardware store (or order them online while you're here). If you have a JK, you're going to need them sooner or later. The "plastic" hinge pins that come from the factory actually have a steel insert. With just a small set of bolt cutters, this job can be completed in under 30 seconds with no risk of damage to the paint. br>4) Attach the straps to the upper hood latch and re-immerse them in hot water to ensure they are nice and warm. Install them in the bottom mount and close them up as soon as possible. If you're small, you might want to get one of your friends who helps people move all the time to latch them for you the first time. br>br>It'll take a while, but they'll eventually loosen up a little. br>br>If you're small, you might want to get one of your friends who helps people move all the time to latch them for you the first time. br>br>Wishing you all the best.

THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR YOU
5/5

DO THIS IF YOU HAVE NEVER UPGRADED ANYTHING ON YOUR JK. I have a 2017 JKU with 3k miles on it, and I just traveled across the state for business last week, with crosswinds of about 50 mph. I figured out what Wrangler hood flutter was all about. Following the completion of the first semi-head-on collision, the second semi-head-on collision With that wind on the leeward side, I was on the verge of learning what it was like to poop your pants as an adult. I swear the hood was about to fly off my head. These are incredibly simple to put together (the original plastic pins snapped so easily). It took me about 3 or 4 minutes per side, and they were extremely stiff when I first put them on, especially because I installed them at about 60 degrees, but that's the point, right? PURCHASE THESE AND INSTALL THEM WITHIN TWO DAYS OF RECEIVING THEM. I'll keep an eye on them, and if they start to deteriorate, I'll gladly order another. They do, in fact, wear the hood as it should be. Jeep should be ashamed for designing such a shoddy product that is so simple to repair.

It is impossible to make a mistake
5/5

There's nothing revolutionary about this replacement part: it doesn't require drilling or reaming out the factory hole to fit the JL hood latch. This is a secure and proper method of repairing hood flutter. Any other repair or replacement increases the risk of your hood rusting, and we all know how much Mopar loves to rust, so why risk it? My Jeep still looks good, and that hood flutter is old news. These replacement straps took about 15 minutes to replace, and that was with a drink in my hand. When these new replacement straps wear out, I'll replace them again while the other guy has his rust ground down, new paint applied, and the original straps replaced because his Jeep hood buckles required a "radical" change. This is just my opinion, but the JL buckles do look nice.

With a few comments, it's a fantastic work
5/5

They are extremely effective. Hood flutter has been completely eliminated. I have a few observations to make. To begin, removing the old rubber does not necessitate the removal of the bottom bracket. I was able to easily shear the existing bolt off/out by gripping both sides of it. Second, it is critical to ensure that the new rubber/plastic is properly warmed. On a hot day (in the 80s), I placed it in the driveway in full sun. The instructions state that this project should be completed at a temperature of at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're doing this in the winter, I'd soak it in hot water for a few minutes, then bring it outside and install it right away. Third, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the new bolts included bushings at the ends. They should have, in my opinion, and I'm looking into finding/purchasing some. Fourth, I'm concerned that the new rubber/plastic is so stiff that it will "age" or become brittle over time as a result of exposure to sunlight or exposure to cold temperatures. The new material's properties are unknown to me. I was able to keep the old rubber in good condition and purchase four bolts. Rather than buying a spare new set because I was worried about them aging in storage, I decided to reinstall the old ones and then buy new ones right away if they failed. Every two years, the fifth could be replaced. It only took 15 minutes to complete the project.

It removed the hood fluttel 100% But later cracked the hood fluttel 100% But later cracked the hood fluttel but It worked well when I installed it, and the hood flutter was completely eliminated, but I noticed a large crack later this week
3/5

This is the second time I've had the same issue with two different sets. I'm going to get a metal one similar to Rugged Ridge. BTW, I live in a city that is hot and humid all year, but that is no excuse for it to fail. It has the potential to result in a catastrophic failure.

Hood Catch has been damaged as a result of the use of this product
3/5

Two out of every three Amazon customer service representatives could care less. Please be cautious when purchasing. These rubber bands are excessively tight. Look for a different option. My Jeep's hood catch was shattered as a result of these. The photographs. The hood latch's screw housing was broken, and one of the catch pins was bent, due to the extreme tension on these bands. I reached out to Amazon's customer service department. There's also a buyer beware situation there. br>br>This review would have been at least two stars if I had gotten Casey, the customer service rep, from the beginning. So I put these in place. On the window defogger, I had to let them warm up for nearly an hour. They were put in place by me. "Great, project done," I thought as I got them latched. Well, for whatever reason, I had to open my hood today, and when I went to close it, I heard a crack. My hood catch had cracked when I reopened the latches. Terrific. br>As a result, I contact Amazon customer service, where I work with Christ F. HORRIBLE! wanted to give me a half-price discount or have me return the item for a full refund. I explained to her that this product was the cause of my Jeep's broken hood catch, rendering it unsafe to drive, and that it was pointless to refund me $25 when I needed to pay $55 for a new hood catch from the manufacturer. 60? br>br>her response was, "We are not responsible for personal items that have been damaged. " Even if it was because of a product I purchased on Amazon. Christi F REFUSED to transfer my account to someone else on my behalf. After that, the call was terminated. I couldn't stop myself from yelling at her. I found Amazon's COO's email address and decided to call customer service again while typing an email to him. I got Casey. Casey was sympathetic and went out of her way to assist me. I had to spend money in the end, but she gave me $50, immediately refunded the Daystar product, and waived the two-day shipping charge on better latches (rugged ridge). br>br>I wish every customer service representative I've ever dealt with at Amazon was like Casey. Customer service is not a job for Christi F!.
