I kept the items dry in the midst of an 8 hour heavy rain. It's impossible to express how much I appreciate this cargo carrier enough. In 900 miles on the top of my Ford Escape, I experienced no problems with the mount. Despite its durability, the material is extremely lightweight. I especially like the straps because they My cup was pretty well filled and I didn't have any shifting. My music was loud enough to drown out some wind noise, but I could hear it when the straps were against my chest. We have used it for several years now My latest trip was from Pennsylvania to Maine, and I must say I am very, very pleased with this product.
