Questions & Answers
It does not harden to a rock-hard consistency, but it is not as flexible as rubber. If flexed too far or too many times, it will crack.
There's no need to use any primer. Any clean, dry surface will adhere to this.
It works great under my chassis, but I'm not sure how well it would work on an aluminum boat.
It is, after all, completely black. On bare metal, I do not recommend using. Make sure to use a good primer before you begin.

For a clean look, use on dual inner fender wells. My 2019 dually is white with white fender liners, which shows off all the dirt that gets stuck to it. To match the front of the truck and avoid having to clean the fender wells on a regular basis, I used the undercoating. Because I only wanted the fender wells to be visible, I taped off the fender and frame. I used plastic to cover the tires. Shake the can vigorously, put on gloves, and apply a light coat of paint (you may need to wipe the tip a few times as it drips). If you want, apply a second coat. Stop spraying when the can gets low, which you can tell by the way the spray comes out. Dispose of the can. Otherwise, you'll end up with globs of undercoat, which will make the coating look uneven. It takes one can per side, with a light coat on both sides. Because I wanted a second coat in the more splashed up areas, I used three cans on both sides. It came out beautifully, in my opinion. Let's hope it stands the test of time. I took pictures, but there was nowhere to post them with the review.
It, like the others, has stood the test of time. I do use a heavy hand when spraying it over wire brushed and washed down metal. The tips do not clog, and the spray pattern remains consistent until the can is empty. These are something I've purchased from 3M on several occasions. I have yet to be disappointed. br>br>Waddie is a br>br>br>br>br>br>.
After the frame had been sandblasted, a couple of heavy coats were applied. (sprays a thick coat without trying, despite the pressure from a rattle can) but rust started to show through after a week or so; would highly recommend applying a coat of primer first, even though the product says it can be applied directly to bare metal.
When I buy a new car, I make sure to undercoat it. I've tried a few different spray undercoat brands and found that the 3M product is the best. Because I'm so thick, I've discovered that a single can doesn't go very far, so plan on ordering more than you think you'll need. This is fantastic; I've placed a second order for a dozen more cans for future projects. It comes highly recommended.
This is what I used to undercoat the underside of my 2014 Ram 1500 truck. I slammed into the cab mounts, frame rails, under the bed, wheel wells, and bumpers. My truck hasn't started to rot yet, as far as I can tell (1/15/2022). br>br>I ordered this product in January 2022 for a new truck that I ordered and expect to receive in March. When I get my new truck, I'm going to do the same thing I did with my 2014 truck. My only hope/fear is that the items I received are not old because they have been sitting for a long time. Because I rattled them all, I'm hoping they'll perform as expected. br>br>Based on my previous experience with this product, it works well, dries quickly, and does not leave a sticky residue after a day. It also acts as a sound deadener to some extent. I've tried a few other brands that either didn't dry well and stayed sticky, or were difficult to spray evenly like the 3M brand. I'm confident in the quality of this product.
I'm a big fan of 3M's merchandise. It's easy to apply, has good coverage, and doesn't drip. When applied in multiple coats, you can create a thick layer.
For my trailer, this was perfect. If you don't properly prepare the surface, you'll end up with peeling!.
