A radiator like this lasted for only two years before it started leaking terribly. The mechanic replaced it with a new one. It was such a letdown.
I still had a leak from the radiator after all this time! While the reviews looked promising, and it was cheaper than a new radiator, I guess my only option now is to buy a new one!.
I think this is the best product currently available.
I have been using this for over 30 years, and it works the same way as always.
Fortunately, the tube of Aluminum Seal worked well.
For my 2000 Ford Expedition, I used this. Silver Seal was recommended to me as a temporary alternative to replacing the heater coil when I experienced a strong coolant smell after less than a mile of driving. Alumaseal, which had the word "seal" in it, was the only product I could find at my local store that had that ingredient. In accordance with my mechanic's instructions, I ran my vehicle first to warm up the coolant. The "radiator" cap is on top of my oil reservoir so I can safely remove it even while the engine is running or when it is hot. As the heater was going, I added a container of this stuff and drove it around for 40 minutes. While it seemed to have worked OK, I still occasionally saw a whiff of coolant, so I added a second batch, but the manufacturer recommends that I do so. Now I don't smell the coolant and the fluid level does not seem to change. As long as I don't start using the heater, my mechanic says it should last. In that case, I can decide if it is worth spending the $600 on repairs or if it is worth trading I am pleased with the sealant, but it serves only as a band-aid and not as a cure for my wounds The whole.
The new stuff is different from the old. I had a tiny leak that left a small puddle in either my radiator or core. This was poured into the car, and in accordance with instructions, the car was started with the heat on. There has been no leak for over two years. One week later, I looked at it again. It's not even The Auto Parts store I purchased it from told me if I install it that it could mess up my water pump, etc. So I went back to the store to get a new one. I checked online to see if there was excess fluid to replace, and I also looked to see if maybe I should replace my fluid There is no reason to do so. This type of nasal spray is different from the old snot-like stuff that people used to use for quick fixes. I was able to use it safely, it worked quickly, it was successful. We are very satisfied with the service.
