What's holding me back? It's not for beginners if it's supposed to be. This book's instructions don't include definitions, pictures, or anything important to make it so we don't have to look elsewhere to understand how the yarn should be spun. It was my hope that I would learn a great deal from this kit. Not at all. My guide will have to be YouTube videos or something else since the instructions here use terms I don't understand and don't explain enough of the actual process and how it works to make anything possible other than recognizing that there is roving in the box, and how to use it. Yes, I agree. There is a general sense of disappointment throughout. Despite not teaching me the most important thing, she has put me on her mailing list for more stuff. Do I really need more roving or supplies if I can't do the basics myself? I hate it.
Despite the appearance, this kit is a real beauty and comes in a very nice box that you could reuse to store something else. A very nice heavy paper about how to drop spin can also be found. Having a beginner who doesn't know the difference between a Merino and a Jacob or a Bluefaced Leicester from a Humbug, I really wish that I had known the name of each of them.
There are all the tools necessary for a beginner in this book! My honest opinion is that I didn't use the written instructions very much- Rather than watching the videos, I opted to watch a whole bunch of YouTube videos as an introduction. It has taken me quite awhile to spin a whole bunch of yarn and I'm quite proud of it! It is great that it includes different types of fiber so that you can experience how different materials feel when spun. It's also very pretty in terms of colors.
