To begin with, my expectations for this item were high. I recently had my 15-year-old glue gun fail, and I needed a replacement that was hot, used regular glue sticks, and would last a long time. It should be self-evident at this point. A glue gun should last a long time, but this one does not. br>I used this for the first time on a lamp project, where the glue was used for electrical insulation and sealing. I got about 6 sticks of glue out of the gun before the squeeze handle (made of plastic) snapped inside the gun and the glue wouldn't advance any further. Wow, six glue sticks through the gun and it's permanently broken, forcing me to spend more of my hard-earned cash on a replacement. br>While we're at it, this one is rated at 60/100 watts (much higher than the one it replaced), but the flow rate through it on the 100 watt setting isn't great, and I'm not sure if it's even 30 watts of heat. br>However, there is no mention of a warranty anywhere in the ad, so I'll have to spend even more money.
The gun has just arrived. I tried it and, to my surprise, it increased the power from 60 to 100 watts. Because the stick works well at low temperatures, it only reaches 15 w and 30 w before pouring glue. This product was a huge letdown for me. Maybe it's a bad lemon, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle to return it. I'm hoping the sender notices and sends a new one. Second Chancebr>br>that works at the watts, as they saybr>br> They sent me a replacement gun (thank you), but the problem remained the same. I'm going to get a refund and change my mindbr>br>Pictures don't even come close to showing the watts that are used,,.
I'm a little disappointed because this is the biggest glue gun I've ever used. It appears to take a long time to heat up, and getting the glue to flow requires some effort. So far, it hasn't gotten hot enough to produce a smooth, consistent glue flow. Maybe it's just a feature of large glue sticks, but I think I'll go back to a smaller size, which I wouldn't recommend for small items.
I've been attempting to make do with a simple glue gun. I gave that one away because I felt I deserved something better given how much I use it for. Warming up takes a little longer with this gun, but it performs admirably. It appeals to me greatly. I've already used it to fix a few things around the house.
There are no drips and the control is excellent. Maintains a steady position. I was paralyzed by review analysis paralysis for far too long. It's just a glue gun, and it works fine; the best feature is the flat handle base, which allows it to stand on its own. It comes to a good temperature quickly. Control is good, and the trigger is easy to use. It's difficult to tell which way the little switch for 60 vs. 100W goes. I'm going to make a note of it. The tip appears to be precise, and there was no dripping.
While being handled, these tumblers have a tendency to fall out of their incasements, putting strain on the two wires that connect them. I was able to remove the PCBs and do some necessary soldering work to repair them after gluing them in place. One was fixed; There are two more steps to take. The only issue I have with this unit is that there is no indication of which temperature I am currently set to on the temperature switch. It's nothing more than a back-and-forth horizontal switch. The manual doesn't show images for low or high temperatures, only "dual power ootion," so you'll have to look at images on the Amazon page to figure out which side is the highest and which side is the lowest setting. "Apart from that, everything is fine. ".
I recently completed the construction of a Flight Test foam board model airplane. This glue gun did exactly what it was supposed to do. The trigger feed occasionally fails to grab the glue stick, which is why it only gets four stars. It'll take two or three pulls to get the stick loaded into the gun.
With craft sticks and hot glue, my grandson creates all sorts of things. He claims that this is his favorite glue gun of all time. It appears to be relatively safe, and unlike some of the others we've tried, it does not drip excessively. Note: The larger glue sticks are required for this project. As a result, keep this in mind when ordering additional glue sticks.
