Selected User Reviews For American Carfts Minc Transfer Folders Pack of 3
There are four main causes for it coming out spotty, according to anyone who has complained about it:
1: There is insufficient toner in your laser printer. Make sure your printer is set to DARK in the settings.
2: Your laminator (or the minc) isn't set to a high enough temperature. Before you start rolling something through, let it get nice and hot. If you need to let it warm up again between jobs, do so now. I continue to wait until my laminator beeps again.
3: Between the foil and the paper, or between the transfer folder and the foil, there is fuzz, hair, dust, or something else - This prevents the heat from reaching the toner, resulting in strange spots.
4: The smoothness of your paper is insufficient. This method will only work on paper that is extremely smooth. When I first got it, I tried it out on watercolor paper like a genius, but the results weren't particularly appealing. br>br>Heavy, super-sized folders can be used with these folders. My prints are flawless every time, thanks to the smooth cardstock and foils I get in 100' rolls. single. time.
I'm surprised there are so many negative reviews, and I suspect the issues aren't with the carrier sheets themselves, but rather with something else in their project. If you're using this with the actual Minc machines, on the recommended settings, there should be no problems. I've been using them for months and have never had a problem. If you're using a laminator, you'll need to experiment with settings and thickness, etc. I've used them in both and they work perfectly with the minc, but you may need to do some trial and error with these sheets or other methods if you're using a laminator. I've purchased these sheets twice and have never had a problem with either pack.
I have the 6 inch opening minc, so I cut these folders up and used clear mailing tape to secure the opening on one side. So far, it's working well and providing me with a number of folders to work with.
However, despite watching videos and reading the manual, it took a lot of trial and error for me to figure out how to use it, and I ended up destroying the transfer folder that came with it. Oops. Fortunately, I was able to simply order more on Amazon, and the problem was solved! br>br>These Minc Transfer Folders are the real deal; they arrived in perfect condition with no damage or flaws, and I am very happy with them! However, they were not at all what I had anticipated. According to the listing's description, this item includes three transfer folders in two sizes. That is correct, but you will receive nine transfer folders in total. When you order this listing, you'll receive three packages of three! There are two large transfer folders and one small transfer folder in each package, for a total of six large and three half-size transfer folders. This was not a problem for me; it was simply a pleasant surprise, and for the price, I am confident that I will not need to purchase additional folders in the future.
I'm not sure if it was just me, but I didn't find these to be as effective as I had hoped. Granted, I'm using an Amazon laminator, but I had to run the foilthrough a few times to get everything to stick. For smaller pieces, a folded piece of paper appeared to work just as well.
The item is exactly as described, but I'm not sure if I really needed it. Alternatively, it appeared that plain copy paper improved the foil's adhesion. I'm using a laminator instead of a minc, so that could be the problem. However, the product is exactly as described, the plastic appears to be durable, and the price is reasonable.
This was supposed to be a transfer folder for foiling, but it completely laminated shut, rendering my labels useless and wasting labels and foil. The laminator was also set to the lowest heat setting. Instead, for my next project, I decided to use parchment paper.
For me and, 3 is an endless supply. Instead of the Heidi Swapp Minc, I purchased a $20 Royal Soverign 9" wide laminator, which can be used with just a sheet of xerox paper and no transfer folder, as shown in YouTube videos. I bought these transfer sheets because the sheet of paper would get stuck in my laminator. They work great. For me, three is a lifetime supply, and I'll cut the two 12"X12" sheets in half to get five sheets in one order. There is more than enough.
