The stiffness of the rubber on the squeegee is what this term refers to. It was not stiff on this one that I ordered, and I had a lot of difficulty with it. It didn't work well for my project because I was screen printing with it.

Blade is mounted to a wooden handle that is cut loosely to fit and held in place with cheesy staples, similar to other speedball products, i should have learned my lesson with the pool noodle spline material in the screens, never again speedball, there is no way to clean this thing after the first run, it can't be taken apart yet has plenty of crevaces for dried ink to collect, break loose and ruin a screen by dragging dried pieces of jagge through.
With my silk screens, it does a good job of printing. My old ones (from the same brand) needed to be replaced. It's a little difficult to get the ink out, and I despise wasting ink. As a result, I devote a little more time to it than I would like.
I've been printing for a long time, and this is one of the worst-built squeegees I've ever seen. Simply change your mind.
I've only used this squeegee three times so far. The wood on both ends of the squeegee is cracking and is no longer able to support the rubber portion. But I'm outside the window and can't get a replacement or a refund. I bought three Chinese squeegees on eBay at the same time as this and they're still going strong! Not to be recommended!.
For crisp prints, a good firm squeegee is essential.
I'd never screen printed anything before when I got this. However, because I didn't know how to use the squeegee, I couldn't tell if it was good or bad. I learned a few things after printing for a while and getting to know the squeegee. To begin with, it was far too large for the images I was printing. It wasn't the fault of the squeegee; it was a rookie error. Second, the blade is flexible and soft. This was made worse by the fact that it was too large for the job I was doing. I've used paper and fabric to print on. As advertised, the soft blade works much better on fabric. It didn't work as well on paper as it did in reality. It's difficult to control the pressure, and there's a lot of ink on the page. Finally, the blade edge is round. This, in my opinion, lends itself better to fabric printing. It relaxes the pressure, allowing more ink to be laid down. Again, this is coming from a newbie, and more experienced printers may already be aware of this. Overall, it's performed admirably. It's difficult to maintain the wooden handle. It absorbs ink and becomes stained as a result. However, it appears to be an artistic piece. There are no cracks or loose parts on the blade.
The rounded edge is ideal for creating a smooth print on a variety of fabrics. Rubber is very easy to clean.
For our applications, Speedball products never let us down.
