I'm not sure what the difference is, but mine was crystallized, causing major problems with my projects. I needed a refund, so I applied for one.
On the bottle, it says, "Will not etch plastic."

I used it to make stencils for birds on pickle jars that I use for watercolor. There isn't much of a smell, which is a pleasant surprise, and it doesn't take long - I do, however, leave it on for about a half-hour to ensure that it works. (I'll give you a hint: If you keep moving the fluid around with your brush throughout the process, you'll ensure that it gets into all of the nooks and crannies of the stencil for a better result. ) It washes right off with water (and you can even save the excess and glop it back into the jar. ) ) After that, I apply a wax finish to make the design pop a little more - However, the fact that this stuff can permanently etch glass with very little effort is quite remarkable.
It's simple to use this product. For my project, this is exactly what I needed.
