This product was designed for the scuffed chrome application, which is exactly what I did with it. At the masked edges, it appears to adhere well, and subsequent paint coats appear to adhere uniformly.

It's not a good idea to use a primer with a lot of build-up. It'll keep you warm in the winter. Before applying the radiator black, if the surface is down to bare aluminum, spray it with a light mist of the standard Self Etching primer.
