Does the banner tabs on the dowel have to be inserted into the dowel for the banner to stay in place?

Dowels can be removed, yes. The image below shows how I used this to hang 2 cross stitch pieces that were encased with a casing. Be sure that the end caps are tight or they will become loose and fall off.

In the end to end measurement, how much dowel is 16 inches?

The answer is yes.

Do you think a 16 1/2" wall hanging will fit here?

It will accommodate 16" based on the measurements I just took. The best advice I can give is This will result in 1/2 of the text being scrunched.

Cross stitch patterns can be displayed in these frames in a unique way. When I had a sale, I would have all my projects framed by a professional at a very good price. In addition to allowing me to hang my current project, this hanger can also be used to carry out a different project, changing the decor in.

There's no need to worry about brain surgery with these hangers. This is the first time I've ordered this. A. 29 & A. 29 It is scheduled to arrive on February 28 at EST. This is ridiculous!.

I thought the packaging was poor

It is a nice hanger, however it was broken during transportation. The wooden dowel was damaged when it arrived. I am not sure how well it was packaged. As a result, I had to return the item. The picture I really liked was damaged, and I wish it hadn't been.
