No, it isn't, but I like to prime it at a later time for my own convenience.

The actual canvas material is very thin compared to what I am used to, so after working on it for a while, I noticed that there were little pin holes forming, and if I flipped my painting over and held it up to a light source, I could literally see the litle pin pricks of light coming through the areas where the canvas was beginning to be eaten right through. I was able to finish the painting and sell it, but I had to gesso the back of it where the pin pricks were to ensure that no further damage occurred while I was working on it. I'd like to see these people thicken up their material a smidge and charge us an extra buck for it.
These are incredibly frail. If they weren't primed with gesso, they'd be as see-through as a window screen. They're about the thickness of a piece of printer paper. I'm afraid they'll tear if I make a mistake. One of the four canvases in the set was torn, and it was one of the middle ones. This indicates that it was torn before it was packaged, rather than as a result of shipping or mishandling. If you want to keep them after painting them, don't waste your money on them. They are better suited to practice and are, at best, disposable.
When I received one, it had tears along the edge from rubbing against the wooden frame. The other three were fine when they arrived. The canvas is only lightly primed and poorly stretched. On my way to class, I had two good-looking canvases in my car, but when I got out, both of them had tears, presumably from rubbing against the seat belt?? It's illogical – The canvas is simply too thin and of poor quality to be useful. I bought it because it was cheap, but I would not recommend it. They can be repaired, but it will take a lot of gesso and sand paper. In the future, I intend to purchase a higher-quality/costlier product.
I purchased this 5/8" thick canvas set for my art classes, and they are fantastic for the price! I painted with acrylic after applying a gesso layer, which was not required. Before I put my underlayer on, I just wanted some texture. I purchased a portrait canvas in the size of 18 x 24 inches. I am pleased with the outcome and believe the price/quality ratio is reasonable. To pull the acid-resistant fabric, you may need to reinforce the angles. free pre- Cotton that has been stretched, as is customary. It is stapled on the back. br>In general, this is a fantastic investment.
These were perfect for our "pistol painting" activity at our outdoor party. They arrived with a few stretches and dents in the canvas, which were most likely caused by the shipping process. This didn't bother us for our casual use, but I would be wary if I were buying these to paint on.
One of the four had a hole in it when it was delivered. br>I intended to return the boards, but my wife was not interested in waiting any longer. She practiced with the hole-in-the-board, but she wanted to warn others that the shipper doesn't do a good job of packaging. The boards are fine in and of themselves, but proceed with caution.
The items were not properly packed. Despite the fact that the carton showed no signs of stress, one was damaged when it arrived. Back in business after some taping and texture on the split. The frames were well-made, and the canvases were tightly packed. The paint adhered well to the surface, and the end result was fantastic.
Cons: These are the worst canvases I've ever bought. They don't hang well on the wall because the wood is so warped. When the other three corners are laying flat, one corner is a full inch off the wall. I laid one of them "flat" on my table before painting it so that I could spin it like a top on the back/middle board. I'm surprised they'd sell a product like this, but you live and learn. Advantages: br>br> The paint hasn't yet started to peel away from the canvases.
