Neither very deep nor very broad. My husband actually switched with our son after he was given it to him. In our four year old's garage, we have cars, and my husband's storage unit is not the same as my son's. I don't think it's great for his paints, etc. It's a neat box, really cool, just not great.
A return was made after it was discovered that the wood pieces were not fit properly together. There were no locks on the drawer to close it back with. A regular sheet of paper couldn't fit in it. It's been a while since I removed the drawer, so I can't recall whether or not it did.

This item is so highly rated that I am not sure what the reason is for such a high rating. It's inconvenient to utilize pencils and brushes in one of the rotating compartments since they are sectioned. I think the "latches" that hold the top trays in place are made of cheap materials that fall out. The price was definitely not worth it and I should have returned it. My research shows that it can be used for supplies for bill paying as well as The checkbook is in the drawer, pens and pencils are in one wing, stamps and return address labels are in the other, and a calculator is in the center. Hence, I am not completely out of luck. For art supplies, we give one star and for mail supplies, we give three stars.
That's right. The box is shaped like a square. It has a pretty cool design. This is a review I don't want to write, but here it is. That's for real. The problem is that I'm here. It was not my choice to have to write this review.
My pen plotter requires markers and paper to work. I bought the box to hold them. The product works well for this purpose with the exception of Letter paper cannot be stored in the bottom drawer because it is not wide enough. Take a look As of now, I am trying to use the slot left by pulling the drawer back all the way. It is under 8" wide and you can pull the drawer out all the way, but there is just enough room for a US letter in there, so for now, I am using that. I have only one complaint that is unique to my use case. Other than that, I think it is a good little device. The wood is straight and the joints appear to be strong. You only need to sand a little bit to get rid of the friction point. You will have plenty of space to store anything you might However, I will probably install a hook on the bottom drawer so I won't have to worry about dumping it out when I use it, but otherwise, it's a great product.
It is polished. My favorite part of it is the music. Despite its fragile appearance, the wood has a smooth and sturdy feel to it. Whenever I need to keep various electronic dongles and cables in it, I store them in this compartment. *I do wish there was a latch or locking mechanism on the flat drawer at the bottom.
I believe the box has enough room for what I need, but there are signs that poor craftsmanship has been used. A small bump in the handle is visible that goes over the center of the box. In addition to that, the quality of the wood is almost incredible and the built in dividers are fantastic. It is possible that leather straps and button snaps will replace the latches as they are very cheap.
I am in love! My sage supplies and tools are stored in it I've had no problems with it. Although I was hesitant because there were a few negative reviews, I am so glad that I went ahead and ordered this.
