The answer is no. The lip is not something I like personally.
You are looking at inches here! There's a ruler out there for just about every type of crafting, and I love this one!
I do not believe that will happen. at the edges that it will not cut off the edges of the board, at least not in my case. The use of a rotary cutter without getting it right can cause some damage if you do not pay attention to

Along the length, there are multiple guide lines running parallel to the numerical markings, so it's accurate not only on its edges, but also throughout the design. The simple way to measure the length of a drawing is to line up the end of the ruler with the edge of the drawing, but you can further ensure accuracy by aligning the horizontal lines within the ruler with the edge It does not slip nor does it move! You can get extremely frustrated when the ruler slips while you are drawing a straight line. The product is fantastic!.
It is the fact that you can see through it that makes me like this ruler best If you want to fold or crease items exactly where you want, then fold or crease them exactly where you want. Numbers are easy to read on the ruler, and the weight and thickness of the ruler allows it to hold the material firmly.
When I use a rotary cutter, I like to use it as a guide. The older I get, the darker the print must be for me to read comfortably. That was my fault, I was supposed to have gotten a black ruler instead of a clear ruler with a pinkish print.
I am happy with this ruler. It is strong, it doesn't bend, and it keeps a straight line. Unfortunately, there are a lot of cheap sewing rulers out there, but they don't compare with the quality of this I will be on the lookout for the same vendor and quality when I buy other sewing rulers.
About a year ago, I bought this ruler, and I like it very much. Every single time I sew, I use this needle and I haven't had any issues with it bending out of place or snapping or breaking. As a seam allowance or making parallel lines, I like the fact that it is clear due to the 1 inch guidelines. It's also convenient to be able to use either end of the numbering system since it runs "up and down". Generally speaking, I believe it's an excellent ruler that I'll probably use for many years to come.
It is well worth the price. With this ruler, I can measure so many things around the house I need to measure! Purchased this ruler to cut different materials straight with a rotary cutter, but I can also use it for cutting paper.
