However, when I opened one of the individual bags, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it had significantly expanded. I do recommend purchasing a large quantity of a single color for filling, as these are better suited to the top layers and will last longer: ) Good luck with your felting, everyone!.
I like to use this to create the basic shape of a body or an item to be felted. It isn't of good quality; It's meant to be used as a wool armature or as a less expensive way to create a basic shape/form that can then be felt on top of with fine quality wools.
There are no duplicate colors in this set of 16 super soft roving wool. All of the items are well-packaged, and the colors are vibrant. Everything was in the storage box as it had been described. Oil is present on all metal surfaces. Before using, at the very least, give it a good wipe down. The single needle tool is made of wood and appears to be of good quality. I haven't used it yet, but I'll keep it as a backup. The scissors (shears) are also quite good. They'd probably last a while, so I'd keep them as a backup. The awl is exactly that: a pointy metal stick with a plastic handle. The glue stick that comes with the kit is for a mini hot glue gun. There are twelve safety eyes and one charm lanyard. A total of eight needles are used in this project. One can be found in the needle holder, and seven can be found in the tube, each of which is two different lengths. Assuming small and medium sized businesses. br>br>For a beginner, I strongly advise this. It arrived in a timely manner. I can honestly say that it exceeded my expectations. Even if it's just for the wool, needles, and eyes, the price is well worth it.
This was purchased in order to felt some homemade soap. Many reviews claimed it had a smell, but it didn't. In my case, it wouldn't have made a difference if it did. I have a lot of material to work with when it comes to felting bars, far more than I anticipated. It's incredibly soft and dyes beautifully. I definitely got my money's worth, despite the fact that it was a small sum to begin with. This is an excellent item.
I already had other shears, so it didn't bother me, but I'm sure if a beginner bought this, they'd have to buy new ones separately because it's the only low-quality item I saw in the kit. . . . The rest of it, for the price, was fine and functions perfectly.
The quality is excellent, but the color match is not what I had hoped for. If you're as picky as I am, you'll notice that the wool has a slight yellow tint to it, which isn't well represented in the product photos. The wool appeared to be a light beige in the photos, and it arrived lighter/yellow than I expected. It's still a "natural" white, though. It was a little different from what I had hoped for. If you're looking for a simple off-white color, this is the one for you. I bought it for a macraweave project and I don't like it. For comparison, I've included a photo of the natural colored macrame cord and wool roving.
I'd recently begun needle felting and was looking for a good "filler" wool to wrap armatures in. This is ideal; it felts up quickly and easily, and I like the color so much that I've decided to use it for entire pieces rather than covering them with other colors.
While I can't say this roving spins like a dream, I did manage to get some decent yarn out of it. When dying, be cautious; It's a breeze to feel. Overall, it's a good deal, but not the best quality (try spinning with a drop spindle, and your lap will be covered in tiny fiber strands). I suppose the staples are simply too short). It has a odor, but it isn't necessarily a chemical odor. It has a lanolin-like odor to it, which is normal when working with wool.
