I agree that using white roving as a base allows the colored bits to be covered more completely. I used mine to make 6 armature birds, 17 Christmas gnomes, an elephant, and more; it goes a long way!
It's of very high quality. I'm also particular about the feel of the fibers. It has a high loft and is very soft. It was combed and packaged nicely. It had a big impact on me. Oh also - There's a nice color palette here, and I liked what I saw.
It is, in fact, wool roving.
Make a felted patch that is slightly larger than the hole in the slipper and then felt it in place. To give a stronger finish, I would do both inside and outside.

I was so excited to order these, but as soon as they arrived, I was disappointed. They can send whatever message they want with 36 different colors. I got a lot of colors that were duplicates. One of the yellows was underweight by a significant amount. Here's a list of the ones that come up over and over again: y pinks, three reds, two purples, blues, and creams, as well as four blacks Everything comes up again and again.
Is this for real? How about 36 different colors? WHAT A RIDICULOUS THING TO SAY! 15 different brown SHADES were sent to me! This seller appears to be more concerned with getting rid of overstock colors than with providing you with the variety you requested. br>br>The only thing this order has going for it is that the packets are filled, and the wool is soft and clean. br>br>*editbr>I returned this item on August 16th because not only was the color variety disappointing, but I only received 27 packets; I wouldn't recommend buying this, even though it is "amazons top rated," because it appears to have fallen victim to low-cost 3rd-party sales. Fellow needle felters, take a look around!.
I received 36 small rolls as expected, but there were duplicates of three colors, so there were at least three colors I didn't get. Moreover, all of the rolls weighed less than 5 grams, with some weighing as little as 4 grams. The rolls weighed an average of four pounds each. Each weighs 36 grams, for a total of 156 grams, or 12 ounces. 13% short, worth approximately 4 rolls percentage percentage percentage percentage percent I understand that pulling exactly 5 grams without cutting any fibers is difficult, but the ends appear to be pulled rather than cut, so everything is usable. However, if the total weight falls short, they should include a few extra rolls to make up for the shortfall. br>br>While none of the small baggies were zipped shut, I didn't dock any points because everything arrived well separated and it was simple to seal them as I inspected them. Much better than factory-sealed packets that are impossible to reseal. br>br>Overall, I can live with it for the price of $13 plus shipping.
Instead of the full range of colors, I got nearly a third of them in dark shades, almost black. Blues, pinks, and tans were distributed evenly throughout the rest of the room. There was only one red and none of the other colors, such as orange or yellow. I tried to contact the company's customer service, which was listed on my wall, but the email address was incorrect and I was unable to contact them.
This is a lovely little collection of colors, ideal for someone who wants to try their hand at felting or for adding small accents to felted pieces. Colors are vibrant, the fiber is soft, and each color is neatly separated into its own small bag to keep things tidy. I was taken aback by how small the packaging was at first - However, once the fiber is removed, it fluffs up significantly. I've included photos of the fluffed-up unpacked fiber and the compressed fiber in small bags. You can make fun little pictures (felted tapestries if you want to sound precocious) with a felting needle and some embroidery thread. It's a good starter kit or addition to an experienced felter's fiber collection for the number of colors you get.
The downside is that they short you and give you a lot of duplicate colors, as many others have stated. I ordered 72 count but only got 71, and 14 of them are duplicates. There are very small amounts of each color in each bag, and the thickness and length are not consistent, so you won't be able to make anything very large with just one color. I wish there was an option for longer lengths in the packet. If you're just starting out, like I am, there are plenty of colors to work with. The wool feels stiff and low-quality in comparison to other wools I've purchased, but it needle felts beautifully! I had a lot of fun blending colors to get the look I wanted, and I was pleased with the outcome. br> I said in my first review that I thought I'd buy it again, but after working with the wool, I've completely changed my mind! I'd buy it again, but I wish the company would make a packet with more colors. Good luck with your felting!.
I should have paid more attention to the weight, because I was initially disappointed that all of the wool and packets could fit into a single gallon zip lock bag. The majority of the hanks are pastel (though there are some great reds), and more vibrant colors would have been nice. I'll try a new color scheme next time. br>Excellent price/quality ratio.
The variety of colors is ideal for accent colors and small felting projects, despite the fact that there isn't a lot of each color. I would recommend this kit to anyone looking to expand their felt color palette, and I would definitely buy it again! (and will most likely do so in the not-too-distant future!).
