This item is a big hit at the community pottery studio where I work. It is of excellent quality. Small loop tools are used by potters to trim excess clay from the bottom of their pots. These tools are expensive, and they dull over time. I looked everywhere for a sharpening stone that would fit into a small space, but I couldn't find one. This handy tool gets the job done. Two of the potters in my class are also woodworkers, and when they saw this tool, they were ecstatic and asked to try it out right away. They're now using it to assist other potters who don't have access to sharpening equipment in resurrecting their old trim tools.
This received a four out of five from me. I gave it a five-star rating because I got it for half price at a clay supply store! It would have gotten five stars if it hadn't been for the fact that it wasn't for the fact It's fantastic for smoothing the "foot" of thrown bowls, mugs, vases, and other objects; without it, my pieces would scratch table and countertop surfaces after the final high-fire firing. Normally, I find Amazon's prices to be very competitive; however, that is not the case this time.
In class, we have another brand that I prefer. It is, however, adequate for the purpose of removing raised areas after glazing and smoothing bottoms so that items sit flat.
They smooth out any minor blemishes that appear after the initial firing.
It works wonders on minor glaze flaws.
It was delivered on time.
In line with expectations.
When I need to smooth out some rough areas on my pottery, I use this. It's fantastic!.
