Questions & Answers

Does anyone have problems with overheating when they have the Data Bank installed on their PS4?

This is a very good point to bring As I examined it, I was unsure how it would remain cool with mechanical/hybrid drives since I noticed there were Since Data Bank 3 and the internal drive are upcoming, we're just going to invest in it. The price of an external 5in drive is roughly the same as an internal 2in drive. Two 2-TB hard drives mounted on a 5in chassis.

Can this take a maximum HDD length, width, and height AND what is the maximum HDD size that the PS4 is capable of handling?

A PS4 (original style) with three cameras. With the new 50 update, you can now attach 4TB drives without issue! Newest model of PS4 comes with physical power - It is not necessary to have 3 buttons on an on button. Added support for 4TB hard drives with the 50 update!

Who is this, and what does it do? It looks like a storage device, but what exactly is it?

There isn't anything inside it, it's just a box for keeping a hard drive, the drive is sold separately

After upgrading to version 2, I had no problems. Is this going to increase memory by 0 Terabytes?

When you mean the console has more memory as a result of being able to save more games on it, then yes, you have more storage. It does not have the capability to upgrade the memory as in RAM, since that is a separate piece of hardware (it doesn't need it anyway, actually).

Selected User Reviews For Nyko Data Bank - Data Bank 3.5" Hard Drive Enclosure Upgrade Dock for Xbox One

Take the time to do your research, and you'll be pleased with the results! The following is an update as of - A new PS4 firmware update is now available With "suspend" mode, non laptop/3 devices can now be powered off
5/5

The 5 inch mass storage drives are the most common. I now have a properly suspended 4TB Hybrid SSD. Sony gods, thanks for all you do! I would like to start off by saying that you, as a customer, must perform your due diligence before using any hardware accessory that changes the PS4's functionality. of the people complaining about this accessory not accommodating hard drives up to 6 TB say it's not its fault because it's a limitation of the PS4, not this accessory. Does the greater capacity of the drives make a difference? There is one exception to this, and it's the PS4 operating system that is permeated by the Nyko accessory, rather than the operating system In my opinion, Nyko could have done a better job educating the consumer regarding its boxing/manual perhaps, but I feel that it is ultimately the responsibility of the consumer to do proper research prior to any modifications to the You're almost like the person who jailbreaks their iPhone, but not knowing what the long-term effects of doing so are, because they didn't do their homework beforehand. From my research, people upgrading to any hard drive larger than 4TB have been experiencing issues (sleep mode, power issues, restarts), which again, is not the fault of this storage device. You may see people stating that 5TB+ hard drives work, but they are Many people (not all) get stuck with functionality issues, such as longer boot-up times, longer access times when playing games, and other issues. However, none of this is the result of It appears to be a problem with the PS4's operating system's handling of large storage volumes. My actual review of this unit is as follows In addition to hardware, there is software. This unit comes complete with a screwdriver that is required to remove the single screw which holds the hard drive. The quality of the unit is the same as that of the PS4. as far as I can tell, it feels exactly like the material used in the PS4. I like the fit of the unit There is no need to force a slide or snap anything in place. As if it were a glove, it fit perfectly into place. The function of the system is to make it work This application does exactly what it says it will it allows you to upgrade the internal storage of the PlayStation 4 to a higher capacity. inch desktop hard drive. I formatted the hard drive first to exFAT (PS4 is very well suited to this format), and then carefully slid it into an expansion bay in the Nyko (make sure the connection is solid and firm, the disk should not move). In my case, I have a 4TB Seagate SSHD that I have configured to be the PS4's restore drive, and it has worked as expected. Sleep mode and restarts works, and my restore data is on the new drive without any problems. Anybody who is unsure about whether they should purchase this or not will want to read these reviews before they make a decision. This is *br*br*br*br1. 2) Do your homework. The second paragraph. 3. ) Use hard drives that are 4TB or smaller in capacity (a soft performance limitation caused by the PS4's operating system, not by Nyko's expansion bay)
4.
***Problems you may run into not due to this accessory
1) Recheck ALL connections before booting up your PS4 with the newly installed hardware. 4) The PS4's OS currently doesn't support large volumes of data. Because of this, Nyko recommends 2TBs for the time being. I am currently using a 4TB drive and I am happy with it. The second paragraph. It will be necessary for Sony to release an update that allows for suspend/sleep mode to work As of now, you'll have to shut down your PS4 normally until that time. This shouldn't pose any problems for you if you're okay with it.

It would be wise to choose a better option
3/5

The first impression I had was that this was an excellent This was the computer I bought for myself and a great 2 TB external drive There are some things they fail to mention such as the fact that after you download a PS4 update to your PC on every single occasion, you have to transfer it to the USB, and then upgrade the additional hard drive. After 6 months of trying, it stopped working no matter what attempts were made to fix it. All in all, it made the whole thing totally There are now much easier memory extension options that will not require constant updates and will not require you to reformat your other HD after updating the original one. Using time and money in vain.

This review is based on my personal experience with this device
4/5

I ordered this a while ago, but I decided to post this review after I've used it for a little while It was cool when I first ordered it and then I wanted to see how others reacted to it after I got There's about an even split between them, as I can see. This is what I highly recommend based on reading some reviews, doing some online research, and going through the instructions provided in the package. As a starter, do some research on the internet. Other people have also reviewed this, so you might want to check them out as well. You may want to scan various Q/As, especially the ones with 4 and 5 stars for instructions and setup, and those with 3 and lower stars for issues. According to the article, it is not recommended to get a HDD larger than The only real space I had on my system was 500GB, so I decided to add three times more storage. Other people have reported to having up to 6TB of space, but I won't risk it. The second paragraph. A WD Black 2TB Performance Desktop Hard Drive serves as the HDD in question. The WD2003FZEX is a 3. 5-inch, SATA 6 Gb/s, 7200 RPM drive with 64MB cache. Despite the high price, I think it's a good deal. 1. 2. 3. Because I wear headphones, the HDD makes little noise, but that means it's working, not something to worry about. Ibid. , p. 4. You should make sure that you are getting the entire software update, not just the latest patch, after you install it. Remember to check the official site the day you work on this to make sure you are aware of any updates. This is 5. It is important that you do this when you have a lot of free time, since the setup process takes a little while, and the internal software and updating takes some time, so you will want to keep an eye on that while you are doing other things. Six points. It seems like there is an overheating problem. When I'm playing, I keep a fan turned on next to it out of paranoia. I have played a few hours of Batman without a fan on a couple of occasions. The fan is the only thing I'm using because I don't want to take any risks. I do get my system hot, but I think that if I don't binge for hours and hours and if I use the fan, then it will be fine. I also keep my system running for a little bit after I'm done. Cooling it down this way would be a good thing. long I played with the fan off, but I don't want to take the risk. * *) 7. As part of the purchase of the HDD, I got a warranty for data recovery. The peace of mind it provides is worth the effort even if I haven't used it yet. Having said that, I have experienced a little issue or two since installing. It was not a real issue, but there were a few hiccups and some weird graphic issues, and I had an issue with a loading screen that wouldn't go away. Though I was able to get around these problems, I am not 100% sure if they were caused by the games or the new HDD and equipment on the system. This is only based on my own experiences. What I am trying to say is that this is a somewhat flawed device, as other users have noted, but for me I have found it to be a positive experience. So I hope that my tips and feedback help. Many others were excited about the prospect of setting my system up with much more space, but after reading reviews about how the system behaved when it reached 4TBs and beyond, I am entirely content with my 2TBs.

Anyone who plays video games should give it a try
5/5

I got fed up deleting stuff to only get future updates from games like Destiny after I had a Gen 1 PS4 with the original 500 GB hard drive. Following my research and seeing how to install the Data Bank, I decided to use a 4TB Seagate drive for the install. The hardware installation took less than ten minutes, and if you have the latest Software Update from Sony, it will probably take less than 20 minutes for the software installation. There is no longer any need to reinstall the games on the drive, which is the longest part. The PS4 owner should recommend this product to their friends and family.

Expanding the databank by 8TB is a definite This worked perfectly when I used it with an 8TB hard drive
5/5

Sadly, we didn't have Playstation Plus, so having to move the saved game data of the family was a real hassle. Since the setup is so simple, I had to swap the original hard drive and new hard drive numerous times, all the while transferring the data using an eight gig usb drive. I was thankful that the process was easy to repeat until the whole thing was The program works great now, and I have access to the entire game library. It's the best part of all, because I bought 5 new games to expand my library of games. Also, I do not need to erase for space anymore!.
