Only because this product is identical to the manufacturer's piece and is easily the best (and for those who want an exact replacement, the only) solution for pealing grips on an elite controller can the lack of instructions be overlooked. While it is simple to set up, it can be confusing at first. br>br>My Recommended Instructions: br>Actions to be taken: br>br>br>br>b Use your fingernail to peel off the old panel (or a butter knife if your nails are too short). It will require some force, but don't be concerned about breaking anything- It, like the rest of the controller sticks, pads, and parts, is designed to be removed. If you're going to use a knife, keep your hands away from the trigger so you don't damage the electronics. br>br>Installation: The new panel should snap into place with little effort. If it doesn't, you might be using an Elite Controller from a previous generation. IT'S ALL RIGHT. Make a comparison between your new panel and the one you just took out. On the new one, there will be two small clips (which may just look like a bump) that the old one does not have, as well as no place in the controller for these clips to plug into. Next to the two larger circles that stick out and fit into your controller, these two clips form a slightly indented circle. By pinching and twisting these two clips, you can easily remove them. Regardless of which controller style you have, the panel will now snap into place quickly and easily.
This pair was purchased to replace a grip on my Elite controller that was peeling away. So far, the controller appears to be brand new! I'll post an update later on how they're holding up after some use.
My concerns, however, turned out to be unfounded. I can't speak for the future, but I was blown away almost immediately after installation. They blend in perfectly with the controller, and I can't tell if they're aftermarket. br>br>The ONLY drawback for me was that there were no instructions included. It literally came in a small plastic bag with the words "Made in China" written on it, lol. br>br>In the last photo, you can see where I slid the screwdriver (or a butter knife) between the gaps in the cover. I'd avoid the trigger area when snapping it off, as stated by another reviewer. It took a little more force than I wanted to use, but it wasn't difficult, and there were no cracks in the process.
Super easy to use, didn't even need to look up how to do it online very intuitive there's one tool you look at the parts it's pretty obvious where the clips are you pop them out pop a new one in Easy Peasy looks almost brand-new now if only I could replace the other part of the grip LOL much cheaper than buying a new Elite for $150 for a very common common issue.
My Elite v1 controller's grip started to peel off, just like so many other people's. I was furious because the controller was otherwise in excellent condition and I had no desire to replace it. I was looking for replacement grips (Scuf grips were recommended), and while searching for those products, I came across this. br>br>I'm used to disassembling electronics to repair them, but the side grips simply pop off after watching the installation video. They include a tool with the grip, but once you see how it pops off, you can just wrench it off with your hand. br>br>The replacement grip fits perfectly, and the black plastic matches the controller perfectly. The grip rubber matches the rest of the controller's rubber perfectly. I'm a picky person, so I figured "hey, it's better than buying a $180 controller," but it's perfect, and you can't tell the difference. br>br>I'm surprised that Microsoft didn't just hand these out for free, but $15 wasn't a bad price to pay to avoid buying an expensive controller. This product has made me very happy. br>br>.
as a substitute My gen 1 XBOX Elite controller's grips started peeling off, as they had for many others. These are the ideal drop-in shoes for any occasion. I can't tell the difference between the replacements and the originals because they look and feel the same. The spudger (prying tool) is included, so you'll have everything you need. I haven't had them long enough to know if they will start peeling, but my originals didn't start peeling until after two years, so if they do, I'll just repurchase them because it's much less expensive than buying a new controller, and the gen 1 Elite controller is my favorite of all time (even more than my gen 2). br>br>I was tempted to give it a one-star rating because there are no instructions, but it was still fairly simple to figure out even without them.
It's impossible for me to tell the difference between these replacement grips and the original grips. The color and texture appear to be accurate, and they fit in perfectly with the rest of the controller. br>br>Removing the old grips was a little difficult, but not too difficult. Once the old ones were removed, these were fairly simple to replace. They do give you a small prying tool to help you remove the old ones, but it still took some effort; I think I was just being cautious to avoid breaking anything. br>br>Anyway, if you're looking for replacement grips for your ELITE 1 Controller, you've come to the right place. You won't be disappointed with these. For the past three years, I've been using them. They've been in place for 5 months and are still going strong.
The old grip simply snapped off with my fingers after I opened my controller to replace the bumpers. The new grips looked and felt exactly like the old ones after they were replaced. The one that was peeling was not replaced, as far as I could tell. I'm not sure how long they'll last, but so far I've been very pleased with the product.
