There are a few more consistent and snappier controls in regular controls. It is much more difficult to control audio. The problem is that even when you find the sweet spot where to aim the remote controller, it is all but impossible to fully control. My personal experience is that the audio controls must be pointed toward the ceiling in order In my opinion, the main reason for returning this device and getting a refund is the biggest issue I had. Over the past few years, the back panel covering the batteries has become very easily removable. I have to press down on the back panel of the remote every time I pick it up. Whenever I try to open it, my locking mechanism is totally nonexistent. Despite getting rid of alot of the useless buttons from the older version, they removed the back button for some reason I'll never understand. Some people may tape the back panel to the remote in order to keep it from falling off. that can be found on pretty much every remote made in the past five years.
Anyone who buys this remote should not do so. Find an older PDP version if you need a remote for your Xbox or another manufacturer if you don't have one.
Setup is easy, it's like connecting the controller to the computer. There is some resistance in the buttons, but they are not rigid This is not a mushy and cheap feeling at all. There is no chance of the battery cover falling off since it is snappy and doesn't feel like it will come It is dimly lit in the back. I have used it for a couple of hours watching Hulu, Netflix and YouTube this afternoon and I very much like it and will definitely replace my television remote and controller. If you use your Xbox to watch streaming content, I definitely recommend this to you. If you have a family member (looking at you dad and mom) who doesn't want to use an Xbox controller for searching shows, I recommend this as well. The Xbox can be controlled by the remote, for those who are curious about that feature. You can access the Dashboard, Settings, etc. , using the following links.
There is no doubt that the back cover is the biggest issue. Despite its tight fit, it is uncomfortable. There is too much chance of it clipping off. A normal use of the device results in it sliding around. Considering how many complaints there were about the original issue, I was hoping they'd finally resolve it, but it seems they made it even less secure and have gone the opposite route. Additionally, I'm also not a fan of the lack of a dedicated Playback button, but the absence of a "Stop" button really bugs me. To be fair, that preference might just be my own. There is no way to actually stop playback on services like YouTube TV that let you bring up your menu whilst the content continues to run in the background. In order to stop playback in its tracks, you must exit the application. As a positive, the new remote is definitely less sensitive to movement than the old one, so I expect the battery life to be much better. The device is being sent back, so I won't have a chance to find out. I find the battery cover issue to be a major problem Taking it out on me is a deal breaker.
In my household, my xbox controller was never comfortable to use or to turn on in order to control Netflix etc. This remote, with its shake awake feature and intuitive, normal button layout, has solved that problem. This remote paired instantly with my Xbox Series X - I never had to pair it with this device at all. I was able to get it to work right away. One of these would have been nice if I got one.
It looked interesting, and I did purchase it for my new Series X, but immediately felt disappointed by the button layout. I use my Xbox nearly all the time, so I think there should be a different button layout. IS IT AN ODD THING FOR YOU TO PLACE THE BACK BUTTON SO FAR AWAY? You'll have to adjust to pressing Y on the remote every time you want to go back. In every other remote, the button is placed to the middle left. It is also difficult for me to work with my Series X because of poor connectivity. The cable has to be oriented in strange directions in order for the Xbox to receive a signal. I'm annoyed by it a lot. Older remote controls are better for me, according to my experience. The PS5 remote is also FAR superior to the Xbox remote. I also bought the remote for the PS5 and I've been using it since I got it. The fact that the back button is placed where your thumb naturally lands means that I haven't been able to use my Xbox as much because the lack of effort they have put into it has alienated me. The controller of my PS5 is actually more convenient to use than the Xbox remote, since I can control the console and TV simultaneously without fuss, and it works every time. The Xbox remote tends to make me point at the wrong place when I'm trying to control the TV. The fan in me doesn't like it. The older Xbox remote is still the best. Secondly, I think you need to rethink the remote placement for the next model that back button looked rubbish. I'm not happy with my purchase.
