Is it possible to play this without a gaming platform (Wii/Xbox) and just use a regular shoulder keyboard?

Sorry for the delay in responding, but no, this keyboard can be used as a MIDI controller without the use of a game system. It does not produce sound on its own, but because it has a traditional 5 pin MIDI out, it can easily control any synth with a traditional 5 pin MIDI in. The only drawback I discovered is that the ribbon controller can control either modulation or pitch bend, but only when a button is pressed. It's not exactly user-friendly, but it gets the job done. There are also dedicated buttons for adjusting the keyboard's pitch up and down an octave. Overall, it's a fantastic, low-cost MIDI controller, but it doesn't produce any sound and must be connected to an external synth to work. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

How do you make the Wii version of the game function as a midi controller? It's not working for me. ?

It's a little difficult to run; you'll need a special program and a midi adapter cable (apparently the Xbox one is a little easier).

Is it possible to use this keyboard with a standard Wii? (Not to be confused with the Wii U) ?

Although I don't own Rock Band (I use the keyboard as a MIDI controller), I believe it was made specifically for the Wii version of the game.

Selected User Reviews For Rock Band 3 Wireless Keyboard for Wii and WiiU

It does exactly what it says
4/5

With the Wii version, you won't be able to use it for MIDI on your PC via a MIDI cable. The Wii version of this peripheral does not appear to be supported by Keytar Rokker in any way. I've attempted to use this plug-and-play with both recommended and forced alternative driver installations. None of them were able to get this to work with Keytar Rokker or my Windows 10 PC in general. br>br>If all you want is a Wii controller for Rock Band, you're in for a treat. Because mine had a few dings and dents, I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. That is unquestionably an innovative product. I hope that more game developers (or even just the team behind this) will introduce more MIDI-based games into the world. rhythmically compelled games that are based on them.

This is precisely what the show requires
5/5

I've had the RB3 keyboard for almost a week now, and I've had nothing but positive experiences with it. I've played guitar and other similar instruments before, as well as some basic theory, vocal, and keyboard training from college (much of which I've forgotten). I probably have a slight advantage over the average person because of my previous music experience. For a long time, I've wanted to learn how to play the keyboard, and RB3's move into the realm of more realistic instrument play is a welcome change. Construction: br>br> br>The keyboard is well constructed. It has the appearance and feel of a genuine two-octave keyboard. The spring and resistance on the keys are just right. In-game, the touch-sensitive whammy effect is also effective. Because I don't have access to a midi sequencing device, I can only assume that it functions as expected. br>br>Game-playing br>br> play: If you're thinking about purchasing this device, keep in mind that having the right mindset is essential. Expect to be a virtuoso the first time you pick up a keyboard unless you have prior keyboard experience. If you want to play in pro mode, you'll probably have to spend a lot of time practicing alone (at the moment, I find playing with others in pro mode a little distracting). If you have a short attention span, the keyboard may not be for you. br>br>In the game, you can choose between standard (where only 5 white keys are activated, as on standard RB/GH guitars) and pro (where the entire keyboard is activated). Both modes let you choose a difficulty level, so pro mode isn't necessarily out of the question right away. I was able to jump right into career/quickplay at a medium pro level (mostly single notes with some 2-note sections). On more advanced songs, note intervals). Not everyone will be able to achieve the same level of success. I had a few friends who wanted to give it a shot at a party, and they all started in 5-minute increments. (nota bene) (professional) mode The built-in lessons are extremely useful. br>br> Before transitioning into career mode, I went through a few of them to get used to the keyboard (simple scales, intervals). I'll probably go back and finish them later, but right now I just want to listen to music. br>br>It takes a while to get used to watching the partial keyboard on screen. Instead of using the strap, I've been putting the keyboard on my lap, which allows me to look down every now and then. Aside from that, I'm mostly figuring out where the notes are by feeling around (black key locations can help). This can be aggravating at times, especially when intervals and solos move faster than I can keep up with. Patience appears to play an important role in game-playing. play. br>br>Conclusion: br>br> br>The device is fantastic in and of itself. Game- If you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn, or if you're content with simple or non-complicated games, play can be a lot of fun. pro mode. While this device isn't for everyone, it provides a lot for those of us who want a more realistic gaming experience. (as well as the possibility of learning a new instrument).

Real 5- For $20, you can get a 20-pin DIN MIDI
5/5

00 ! I'm not a gamer, so I'm not sure how this works with them. However, I did require a small MIDI keyboard with a 5-button layout. pin MIDI OUT port for playing older MIDI modules directly while editing sounds When I discovered the structure, I was taken aback. The build quality of this small keyboard is comparable to that of several of my small (music-specific) USB keyboards. It does not, however, include a channel. aftertouch, but at a cost of $20. 00, no one in their right mind would expect it to happen. As a result, this review is geared toward musicians rather than gamers. You can't go wrong with this MIDI controller if you don't want to use a computer or an expensive USB host box.

BRAND NEW, EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED, AND IN GREAT WORKING ORDER! Excellent experience with the seller
5/5

Inside a brand-new, untouched box, everything was present and undamaged. I purchased this unit to use as a MIDI controller with Ableton Live on my computer. It took some tinkering, but I finally got it to work – and it works great. The action is similar to that of a traditional synthesizer, and it feels fantastic in my hands. The strap is also very comfortable. I'm overjoyed that I was able to get one for such a low price!.

Probably the most affordable MIDI keyboard available
5/5

I'm surprised this isn't getting more attention in the media. This is well worth the $20. br>br>My three complaints are that you must use batteries, that you must hold down a button to pitch bend, that you cannot change the MIDI channel, and, most importantly, that you must hold down a button to pitch bend (why didn't they make it the other way around?). Oh well.

MIDI controller at a low price
4/5

I don't use it for Rock Band; instead, I use it as a low-cost MIDI controller for my portable MIDI-in device. equipment that can be used I've recently returned to using hardware instruments instead of computers. I recently purchased a Korg Volca Keys, and while playing it with the ribbon keyboard is fun, I'm much more dexterous on a keyboard, so I needed something battery powered with a standard 5 pin DIN MIDI port. I bought this controller after reading positive reviews on various synth forums, and it's fantastic. The keys work well, though some of the controls are difficult to reach due to their layout. Pitch bend can be done with the ribbon controller, but it requires holding down a button on the side of the ribbon, which seems counterintuitive. The button may help to extend battery life, but I find it inconvenient to use. It's still a fantastic deal at this price.

It's fantastic! And now I'm able to use my to create music
5/5

This was not purchased with the intention of being used as a game controller. I bought it as a midi controller for my laptop. I found some software online that allowed me to connect it to the included adapter without using a midi to USB cable, so I didn't have to buy one. It's fantastic! And now I have the ability to compose music on my laptop. Definitely a sturdy, high-quality piece of equipment.

Electronic musicians will love it
5/5

This is an amazing offer. I am a musician and do not play the game. This is the most affordable velocity-sensitive midi keyboard you'll ever come across. Furthermore, it is powered by batteries. I make electronic music and needed a small, battery-powered midi controller to use with one of my synths. This is exactly what I needed. It's a no-brainer with $20 off and free shipping.
