My original purchase was to let two people play the game simultaneously with one original pad and one with this, but now that the new one is so much better, I am about to order another so nobody has to use the old one, which is unbearable (particularly because we have hardwood.
The dance pad included with DDR is far superior to the one included with Konami's game Games for parties are the hottest. This includes a foam insert that is one inch thick, which makes it much easier on your knees and toes. Especially useful for travel, the foam insert can be disassembled as a result of its jigsaw-like fittings. If you use the zip cover, the foam pieces don't need to be slid in as the zipper goes around the whole cover, so you can open it up, place the foam pieces in it, and zip it up again. My dance pad tends to stick if I play with bare feet despite the manual stating that bare feet can be used.
DDR has been one of my favorite games for a long time now and this mat is weird. the last pad did not make my feet stick to it all the time and the material they used to construct the top makes it difficult to hit the arrows in time.
It is a lot more comfortable and enjoyable to play DDR with these pads than with the original one. Jump and hop with ease on the padding because it is sturdy but comfortable.
