No, but its performance will not be identical to that of a GameCube controller. As a result of this adapter, the Wii U recognizes the controller as a Classic Controller, and some liberties had to be taken in order to accomplish this. Due to the fact that the shoulder buttons on the Cube Controller are pressure sensitive, but not on the Classic Controller, it relies on this adapter to determine how much pressure you are applying to In order for the controller's shoulder buttons to be recognized as a button press, you have to press them all the way down. In order to get a more faithful and high-quality adapter, I highly recommend the official one (the one with four Controller ports that plugs into the Wii U's USB ports). As an owner of both, I'll never go back to using the Mayflash one after using the official
My testing with the wireless Wavebird controller showed that the performance was extremely It seems that the controller intermittently disconnects and reconnects, and that the analog stick's neutral position keeps getting reset, which makes it impossible to play games. Each of the four wavebird controllers I have had this problem on. Wavebirds can't use this, so do not try to use it with one. We sincerely apologize.
With the mayflash adapter, you need to use an original Wiimote. When you are using the wii motion plus controller, you will see a continuous blinking light and the controller won't
With the release of the new Smash Brothers game coming out at the end of this year, I believe Nintendo will release a multi-port GameCube controller that could support up to eight buttons. You can use more than one GameCube controller at a time when using the multi port adapter. 19 dollars is the cost of the Nintendo GameCube multi port adapter.

The idea seems like a good one in principle, but the execution is sadly lacking. However, this one has yet to resolve the primary issue with the device. While it does look like the GameCube controller on the console (and the Pro model), most of the controls will not operate in the correct place as originally intended for the GameCube. In Sonic Unleashed on the Wii, the "B" button acts as the jump button, the "Y" button acts as the slide button, and the "X" button acts as The GameCube controller has full support (again talking about the Wii version) for the GameCube controller, and yet it feels so awkward using that control scheme on an actual Wii Classic controller. Comparing that to the actual GameCube controls, which actually just feel better. Having not yet played long enough with this particular configuration to get a good sense of how it plays at night, I can say that the GameCube controls are also very good. In my opinion, this device (if you ask me) fails to correctly translate the controls of the Wii Classic controller onto the GameCube, since it appears that the two controllers were not taken into account that the Wii Classic controller and GameCube controller are completely different in technology and operation. I would have preferred if this device had been able to not just make the (video) game register the controller as a Wii Classic controller, but also make it function as a GameCube controller, whether or not the (video) game already includes GameCube support.
I tried two of them for a total of about 15 minutes I've tried both and they appear to work as described. * Here are some things you should remember - - - In order to accommodate the more buttons on the classic controller than on the GameCube, the start button on the classic controller acts both as the start and as the select button. When you click on it once, it will send a select message. It must be tapped twice (quickly) in order to use the start button. It may appear at first that the start button doesn't work if you are unfamiliar with this fact. does not appear to be an issue. this and a I bought it for Smash 4 on Wii U). - - - This will only work with games that support Classic Remotes. If the game will not let you use a classic remote, this method will not work. A gamecube controller is easily converted into a classic remote with this device. - - - In addition to everyone else's comment, the adapter has a relatively loose connector on the side where you slide your game controller in. The adapter need only be placed very close to you on the floor, so that shouldn't be an issue. It was a smooth transaction for me. I have read a bunch of other reviews about these failing quickly, but in the little time that I've been using it, I haven't had any complaints. I predict I will buy two more of these once I can justify spending the $30 or so for each.
All of that changed when I discovered this gadget. One of my favorite game controllers has always been the Gamecube controller (only the first party versions). This product is both comfortable and responsive. I tested it on both my Wii and my Wii U, and it worked flawlessly on both. Do not worry about lag it does not exist. In order for this adapter to achieve greatness, only two things have to happen. You'll notice that the port where your GC controller plugs in isn't the tightest one I think you'll find that it unplugs quite easily if lightly tugged upon, but it gets the job done. In addition, in order for the 'Start' button of the GC controller to be registered as a push of the 'Start' button, it must be pressed twice in succession. Pressing one button acts as if it were You will most likely be using this with games that use the START button more than the SELECT button, so this is not the most convenient solution. You can do this by playing the following controls in a classic game like Zelda on the Virtual Console If you want to see your menu screen in Ocarina of Time, you will need to press START twice. I find the choice of the manufacturer to be very odd.
Apart from that, this gadget is pretty darn cool. Your old GC controllers need to be cleaned. Playing N64 Virtual Console games on this platform is the best way to do so. Since Nintendo has yet to release N64 VC titles for the Wii U Pro Controller, I haven't been able to play any of them.
