abcGoodefg Original DVD Drive Replacement Repair Part for Nintendo Wii

This drive was ordered to replace one that had recently started having read errors on a few games at random. It's unlocked and compatible with any Wii, according to the description. When I received the part, it was packaged in a box that stated that it was brand new. It doesn't appear that this is the case. It was clear that the drive was filthy. I installed it anyway to see if it made a difference. Unfortunately, it was unable to read any discs. The Wii would spin up after inserting the disc, but then a message would appear on the screen saying "An Error has Occurred" and instructing the user to turn off the Wii. I tried a number of well-known good discs, but the problem persisted. I eventually gave up and reinstalled my old hard drive. My hard drive continued to function normally after the installation, so I know it was not damaged. I used Amazon's fantastic return system to send the part back and ordered a replacement that was identical. I reasoned that perhaps this was someone else's return and that I should give them another chance. I received the second drive two days later, and everything went exactly as it did the first time, so I'm returning it and ordering a new drive from a different Amazon seller. I'm assuming these have been refurbished with new lasers and lenses installed, but I'm not sure. Perhaps it will work better for others, but it did not work well for me (except for the simple return process).

When I tried to use my Wii and it didn't work, I was devastated. Other options, such as purchasing a new gaming system, appeared to be too costly until I came across this disk replacement. I'm not very computer savvy, but I was able to replace this entirely on my own using a YouTube video. I reassembled it and discovered that I had a few extra screws, but it worked after I plugged it in. I was overjoyed to have it working again, and the fact that I had fixed it myself had me in tears. Thanks to this disk drive, I am once again a happy Wii user.

For my original Wii, I purchased this. The darned thing is missing from my life. I was overjoyed when the drive arrived and turned out to be the exact part I needed. After using my computer for a while, My brilliant child set it up, and it actually worked! We all had a great time reminiscing as a family for two weeks as we bowled our way back to losing our pro balls after not playing in a long time. BUT: The drive stopped working two weeks after it was installed, after about seven Wii bowling games. On the X-Box 360, we're now back to single-player games. Box. How sad.

Our Wii has stopped working for us. This replacement part arrived, but it was a bit difficult to install. We're still waiting for warranty and technical support paperwork! I'm overjoyed that my amazing husband figured it out. We're having a good time once more. I suppose it's old technology, but we still like it! I was relieved to discover that a replacement part was available and that I did not need to purchase a new unit.
