On the outside, but not on the inside, there is a protective film; the black screen mesh remains in place; do not pull it off. You can remove the protective covering from your old Wii screen and replace it with the new one. There's a video on YouTube that walks you through the entire process.

Follow the advice of other reviewers and watch a YouTube video. Because I had a newer system with different cable placement, I had to watch a couple of them. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with the end result; my Wii U screen had broken over a year ago, and I had it replaced by Nintendo. They overcharged me by more than $100, but I'm usually too afraid to try to fix things myself, so I just paid the fee. I couldn't afford to send it in again when it broke the second time, so I decided to buy this kit and take a chance. The kit includes a "new" LCD Screen, a new Digitizer, and two screwdrivers to assist you in disassembling your Wii U. The screen had a fingerprint and what appeared to be a few scuff marks on it, so I said "new. " It was also covered in plastic, which I assume was to protect it, but the plastic appeared to have been used several times and had pen marks on it! I was irritated, but I pre-treated the lens with some camera lens solution and fiber cloth. All marks had vanished after cleaning the screen. br>br>Because my digitizer was in good working order, I was able to easily install it on the new LCD screen. br>br>If you buy this kit or one similar to it, I suggest you do the following: 1. br>br> Make a mental note of where each screw goes. I messed up and had to reassemble everything after putting two in the wrong place.
2. While repairing your Wii U, have a backup plan in place. There are a lot of small wires and ribbons that can easily get caught as you reassemble, so having one person hold them back while the other screws things back on is a good idea.
3. Cleaning your new LCD screen and/or digitizer requires screen cleaner and a fiber cloth. It doesn't mean the product isn't clean just because it isn't damaged.
This is my second order from Amazon for one of these screens. This is the first time I've bought something from this seller. Three years ago, I paid $20 for a replacement screen, and this one cost around $30. For a replacement, it's still a good deal. Two small Philips screw drivers were included in the repair kit. However, a small pair of needle nose pliers will be required by YOU. This is something they never tell you. The needle nose pliers are used to remove the extremely small ribbons that are connected to the board that sits behind the control pad's screen. br>br>My recommendation is to look up a tutorial on YouTube. There are a slew of excellent options available. However, make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. If you lose a ribbon, your control pad is effectively lost. Another feature that this screen lacks that your original screen does is a black mat type insulation piece that you must remove from your original and replace with this new screen. Advantages: br>br> Except for the needle nose pliers, it comes with the majority of the tools you'll need. Aside from that, it's a fantastic screen to replace. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. There are no instructions included.
I've attached a photo of the OEM and TOMSIN replacement ribbon cables. The original cable is much thinner, and both sides have notches. But the replacement digitizer cable is too thick to fit in the Wii U controller motherboard!br>br>It's very frustrating that everything else works fine, but the stupid cable won't fit, so I'll have to disassemble everything again just to return this defective product. br>br>Edit: For the time being, I'm going to give it a two-star rating because I've found a job. around. I scraped some of the excess paint away with a razor blade. as if it were insulation material from the ribbon cable's top. I finally got the cable inserted into the motherboard connector after scraping the end. br>br>As a result, I didn't have to disassemble anything to replace the LCD screen and digitizer. To make things work, a few minor changes are required. Now that the screen has been replaced, I have a working Wii U for the boys. This item will do the trick if you don't mind scraping.
My screen was scratched but still functional, so I wanted to replace it to restore its appearance. Just for kicks, I threw in a new digitizer. br>One of the snaps holding one of the smaller ribbons in place broke, and the pad no longer detects touch. It works when I keep my hand on the ribbon. (The parts inside are very fragile and easy to break, and if this happens, your gamepad will have a new problem. ) br>In addition, the new screen was not functional. I wasn't sure if I did something wrong or if the gamepad was defective, so I tested it before reassembling it. I had indeed missed a ribbon, as there are a number of them and they are easy to overlook. The screen turned on, but there was no way to interact with it using touch. I found that ribbon (and it had broken the snap!). Damn! ), the screen has become dark and hazy. The screen was perfect after I replaced the old digitizer, but there was no touch, of course. I tried the new one again, and it still didn't work. I went with the old digitizer and a new screen, but I cracked the new screen trying to separate the adhesive, so I'm back to square one with no touch control, and unfortunately, that snap is part of the gamepad, not the digitizer, so ordering another set won't help. To reclaim the touchscreen, I'll need to purchase a new gamepad. br>br>Installation advice: br>br> On the gamepad, I snapped the small ribbon next to the very large ribbon at the top of the digitizer. Take extreme caution! A second, very small ribbon is connected to the side of the digitizer, and it appears to provide power to the screen. It's also extremely delicate and easily overlooked. Check to see if you have this one if your screen won't turn on. br>If you don't power on the gamepad and check that everything works before reassembling the back of the controller, you'll have to unscrew/screw 10 screws!.
