Selected User Reviews For L2 R2 Trigger Hand Grip Shell Controller Protective Case for Sony Playstation PS Vita 1000 (Black)
PROS:
- It makes me feel a lot better than I did before. br>- L2/R2 triggers are required for PSone games and PS3/PS4 remote playbr>- On the system, it looks fantastic. br>- br>br>PROS: All ports are easily accessible. br>br>CONS:
- If you have a screen protector on the front, back, or both sides, it will not close completely. The side snaps are the only ones that are functional. I haven't had it long enough to say whether it will be adequate and durable; it feels secure enough, but if it fails, I will update thisbr>- The trigger buttons are a bit of a letdown. They've got a long way to go. They do, however, function. It simply takes some time to adjust.
- While the lack of bulk is appealing, it does have a flimsy and delicate feel to it.
- It's thicc in the wrong place. The buttons for Home, Start, and Select are a little too far back on the screen. It's still usable, but it's a pain to use. This is especially true of the Start/Select buttons. Because the Home button is larger, it is more tolerable.
- The Vita's thickness is roughly doubled as a result of the hand grips and trigger buttons, preventing it from fitting into a standard travel case. I have to use a Mumba hard case that was designed to hold a Nintendo Switch as well as a few extra joycons and other accessories. br>br>SUMMARY: If you have a screen protector, that's fine, but if you don't, that's much better. It ought to be less costly. It was something like $15 in total. Because this listing doesn't even show the trigger buttons, and someone answered a question incorrectly by saying it fits with a glass screen protector, I've attached a lot of photos to help you decide for yourself. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> br>A few new photos have been added. It turns out that a screen protector can close it all the way, but it takes some effort. I figured the flimsy plastic would break any minute, but I managed to close it. As you can see, it's barely holding together. But, after a few days of use, it still hasn't broken (yet?). ), so I figured I'd give it a fresh look. In other words, getting it to close all the way may or may not break it.
I, like many others, found long play sessions on my Vita OLED model to be a little uncomfortable, and I wished for a little more grip area. This case worked perfectly, and now I can play my older PS1 games without the inconsistency of using the back touch pad corners as L2/R2 buttons (which I would frequently miss). br>br>The case isn't particularly sturdy on its own, and removing the Vita from it necessitates extreme caution to avoid damaging the delicate clips that enclose the Vita. However, once installed, it's a tight fit that will likely withstand a light drop without causing damage to the Vita. Probably. br>br>Even without L2/R2 triggers, I'd prefer a rubberized or silicone option in this form factor, but the only one available is no longer manufactured and sells for exorbitant prices used. This is a good solution that isn't too expensive.
The addition of L2/R2 buttons makes it much easier to play PS1 games. If you want to keep your grip on the vita, the open back allows you to use the touch portion of the device. When I use my right hand for more than a couple of hours, I get a cramp, so I take it out now and then. br>My recommendation for the clips is to open the case with a small, rigid object such as a stiff toothpick, picking each tab individually. It goes pretty smoothly and you won't damage them this way.
Because of the high quality, I gave the PS Vita hand grip four stars. The plastic is tough, and the tiny clips that hold it all together are prone to breaking. Only open and place this on your console with extreme caution. This console grip is very good once it has been assembled. It's made of hard plastic, so it doesn't feel great, but it makes playing with the Vita a lot easier.
It's an excellent situation. Playing PS4 or PS3 on the go on the Vita is a must, and there are a few games on the Vita that benefit from the triggers as well. My only criticism is that the hinges feel flimsy, but I don't notice any problems when the case is closed, and I would highly recommend it. I only wish there was a metal or a more durable plastic version available.
The shoulder triggers are fantastic, and they feel just like a "real" r2/l2 button. Although the construction, especially the front cover, is a little flimsy, it is highly recommended. After it's been installed, you won't even notice it's there.
The case's mini clamps are extremely flimsy, and mine broke as soon as I unboxed it. However, I liked the function of it so much with just rubber bands over it as a solution that I decided to keep it while Amazon's return policy was still in effect. Overall, I can't say I'm disappointed, and it's a good product if you think you'll benefit from the improved grip and l2/r2 functionality.
It's very comfortable, and the triggers are fantastic. They're a little out of the way, and the springs could be a little better, but they work well and feel natural to use. I combined them with advremap, and they now serve as L/R in nearly all of my games!.
