This memory card is required by the PS Vita; unlike a phone or tablet, it is not a standard. This was done on purpose by Sony to force you to purchase it.
You'll need a PlayStation card, which are available in sizes of 4, 8, 16, and 32 GB. The PlayStation TV bundle includes a Dual Shock 3 controller, an 8GB memory card, and the Lego Movie game. It's possible that this is a better offer. In Japan, you can also get a 64GB card.
It isn't a game, at least not in the traditional sense. However, it is compatible with the Playstation TV. In addition: The Playstation TV can only use this type of memory card.

The memory card fits perfectly in my Vita, has plenty of storage space, and vanishes into the Vita so you don't even notice it's there. I've only used a small portion of my card so far, but I'll probably keep downloading games as part of my Playstation Plus subscription, so I'll know if I need to upgrade when the time comes. br>br>What irritates me about this card, and why I can only give it three out of five stars, is that Sony had no need to create yet another proprietary memory format. We could have bought cards for about a sixth of what we pay for these if they had used a standard micro SD slot. I'd like to believe Sony learned their lesson about proprietary technologies after VHS defeated Betamax, their Minidisc failed to overtake CDs, and their MemorySticks faded into obscurity while SD Cards and MicroSD Cards thrived. However, Sony appears to have decided that it is in their best interests to develop new formats for random products in order to eke out a few more dollars from their loyal customers, despite the fact that many former Sony fans have moved on to competitors. br>br>As a result, while the card functions well, it lacks any unique features, and thus cannot be considered a good value. I was stuck because the Vita's internal memory wouldn't let me download even one game - As a result, a captive customer is forced to pay the Sony tax and purchase an overpriced memory card; however, the next time I go shopping for a TV or stereo, I'm not going to forget about it. So, the next time Sony feels compelled to "improve" the market by offering proprietary technologies, they should consider the long term.
I don't really need 64 gigs, but it would be nice to have them, especially since they're so expensive right now. Unless you're the type of gamer who requires a lot of hardcore variety, trust me when I say there's plenty of room. I'm even considering deleting some games so that I can make room for more.
This is a disaster. Aside from that, when I got it set up, the card worked flawlessly. I downloaded all of my Vita games and went about my business, playing them while ignoring the card's failure. When I turned on my Vita, I received an error message stating that the memory card had not been detected. The card was not detected even after I reformatted my Vita. For the price, this is terrible quality; thankfully, Amazon has a great return policy, but I'm not going to trust Sony hardware as much as I used to.
My 32GB memory card was perfect for me, as I have a lot of physical games and only a few digital games that take up a lot of space on my Vita. My memory card died after two years of light use. I only use my memory card for digital games, DLC for physical games, and game updates, and I mostly use this card for physical games. This means that I've had this card in my system since I bought it and that I've never deleted anything from it. I turned on my system today and received an error message indicating that the memory card had been removed or swapped, and after a Vita reset, it no longer detects my 32GB card; I reset my system to factory settings and formatted the memory, but all it sees is the internal memory. If the Vita tries to detect the card, it freezes and a flashing green light appears, forcing a restart. Buyer beware that you may have limited use from this 32GB card, especially if you are one of those people who keeps your systems for a long time. Back up your data frequently! I installed a 16GB card and it was detected without the issues I have when I have the 32GB card installed, so I know my system works fine.
